Does anyone know what oil a Dealer will put in an S4 (B5) at a service, if you don't supply your own?
Secondly, does it vary from Dealer to Dealer?
Thanks.....

Cheers Simon,
Not keen on Magnatec at all and stupidly didn't remember to bring my own when it was serviced earlier in the week!
I thought the correct grade was 0-30 fully synth or similar, I know alot on here use Mobil 1 0-40, and wrongly assumed the dealer would put in a similar spec. Magnatec is 10-40 meaning it's thicker at colder temperatures, typical, especially as winter is already on it's way! I think I'll run it for a couple of weeks, then change the oil again.

I always supply my own Mobil 1
If your local dealer used GTX Magnatec as standard then maybe other aspects of their servicing is substandard too.
Although the official Audi rules for which oil may be used in the S4 vary according to if it is on AVS or fixed schedule servicing, what doesn't change is the weight spec. of 0/30. Whilst in my opinion using 0/40 (such as Mobil 1) is OK, using 10/40 such as the GTX is not, because the cold viscosity will not be good for the turbos.
