Track Day cover

Post by Jon » Tue Feb 25, 2003 3:42 pm

Just been asked about RS4 trackday cover by Tanoga - i'm an insurance broker by the way - so I can approach some insurers about packaging a deal could anyone help me with the following info:

Average value of members cars
How many RS4 memers are there
how many track days do you go on per year on average
hom many people have crashed badly on a track day

please help as much as you can so I can try and save us all some money!

Without doubt this is something that needs to be developed.
My insurers will not touch trackday coverage.
I have had a quote to cover £45k value with an excess of £6750 at a premium of £642 for ONE trackday.

Applies to everyone I think Jon.

I have an S4 worth 22k and for 10k of cover with a 2k excess I was quoted £ 190

If you can price insurance including a certain number of track days p.a. or even individual trackday cover I would be interested.

Maybe I could hire a tow truck for the day(at a cost of less then £642) and in the event of smacking the car I would not have any problems getting it back home for repair(at a cost less then the excess).
Now if the cost of repair was to much I would have to look at my other options

right keep posting your thoughts, i've already spoken to the underwriters and they seem to be getting (in there words) creamed this year running at a 150% loss for the last 12 months. Strangly it is mostly jap car owners that are doing this, but the policies are not rated on the car. just the mods, organinser and value.

I will keep you all posted with my findings, and which car insurers will let you do it under the standard policy.

as far as i know we have had no major track day incidents?

gravel trap - one

locked out of car - one

apart from that - none

Average RS4 - £40k

say average of 12 track days a year

er thats it

i think

I currently pay £65 which raises my access from £250 to £2000, but i figure i can find £2k not £40k
Can't beat a bit of boost!

Got a second quote late today.
12 month policy to cover a max 15 days per year.
£45K maximum aggregate value of claims per year.
£4.5K excess per claim.
£7400 annual premium, which I am told I can pay by instalments if it helps

Over to you Jon
