S4 Newbie

Post by Magic Boy! » Fri Sep 23, 2011 10:14 pm

Hi Guys,

S4 Newbie, and would just like some advice please.

Just looking to buy a 2004 S4 Avant 88,000 miles with full Audi service history up to 75K miles then an independent after that.

He's asking £7999 - is this a fair price?

Looking to have it gas converted - any problems there?

Whatare these cars good for mileage wise?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

In answer to your question yes it does seem a good price ...... BUT don't base your purchase on an opinion from someone who hasnt even seen the car !!

There are so many variables to how much a car is worth to the buyer, and it always amazes me when people give 'pretty' strong opinions and advise on cars without even having seen them......so if your purchase is simply based on buying an S4 with 88K miles and FSH then yes £8K odd pounds sounds good - but I assume your purchase is not simply based on these relatively small facts !!

Good luck though fella.

Sounds fair to me. I get around 26 on a run and 17 round town. They are great to drive.
If you are worried about fuel though I would think about it before investing in conversion. Will you actually save more than you spend. Also what problems are introduced.

If you are looking to buy a V8 don't worry about the cost of fuel, if you are buy a diesel. :D

RS4 around town 14 - 23 max on the motorway.

Happy hunting.

The V8 S4 is reliable car generally, but the consumables are expensive if / when they all come at once. Clutch is 2k including essential dual mass flywheel. If this hasn't been done by 88k it will need to be done at some point. Aux rads are £700 pounds. Tyres are not cheap in the correct 235 width. Look on the V5 to see how recently it last changed owners - was the last service done on the cheap? etc etc
