Extended Warranty Smith Knight Fay Stockport

Post by Iain » Tue Mar 23, 2004 10:45 pm

Took the car in for the seat to be fixed; enquired about extending the warranty in September and was it worth it due to the mods on the car and would Audi just take my money then make excuses that the failure of anything was attributed to the mods.

Short answer was its worth extending the warranty since replacing the gearbox or turbos is mega $$$ on the labour charge alone (I dont have a UK pound sign on my keyboard over here in Septic Tank land)

I asked the obvious questions surrounding gearbox failures and turbo failures and would Audi cover these parts despite the modifications.

Service Dept stated that YES, Audi would honour the extended warrnatry but only replace the failed item with a std part. Hence if the turbos were non standard and went, Audi will only replace them with Standard ones

We'll see nearer the time if they will put this in writing; though I have no reason to believe they wont stand by this. SKF have always been 100% in terms of customer service and knowledge of RS's

On another point, when its due a service they wont touch the brakes because they're non standard ????? Is that normal procedure? :?
and is there anywhere in the NW that can undertake this other than QST in Haywards Heath....4.5hrs away???

Iain,

The audi service doesn't replace brakes anyway - they will just inspect them and recommend disc/pad replacement as required...

Any decent mechanic will be able to fit new discs and pads for you.

Iain, If you want to check what Battersea are prepared to do to the car contact the service manager: Michael Francis 0207 2283030 he is a really nice guy and made sure that only one particular mechanic worked on the car. They know the car very well.

Iain, Having a great time with the SL although could do with the weather improving a bit as trying to get 500bhp through the back wheels on wet roads can be interesting!!!
