Honestly - B6 S4 or B5 RS4

I'm new to the site & got the same question RS4 B5 or S4 B6, i was hoping everyone would say RS4, i really like the sound of them but you cant ignore 4.2 V8, its a hard choice

Ok, fair enough. So I should just make sure I get a good one and not dwell on the stories of £6000 turbo replacements and £10k engine failures?

I did a lot of research into the RS4 B5 and was hard pressed to find any negative stories about the engine durability etc. Off the back of this I bought one back in Oct 2008 and have loved every second of it.

I can't recommend it enough, it's a brilliant car and Audi interiors are so good that even though it's 8 years old - the dash, plastics etc still look a lot better / more up to date than 90% of other cars on the road!

What puts me off the B6 is the tensioner problem which means engine out to fix and the thus far ruinous depreciation.
Plus they look too much like a TDI.

The B5 RS4 is an iconic cult car, the S4 is just 'a car'.
