Modded S4 Insurance quote

Post by jeffw » Thu Jul 03, 2003 10:03 pm

As some of you will know I'm in the process of getting my car K04ed by AmD which will have arounf 400BHP when finished
The car already has big brakes from HiSpec...

So I've started to look around for Insurance and No1 is Greenlight who quoted £980 + a Tracker for me (42 !) & my wife (37) no claims or convinctions in last 5 years +max no claims. This includes business use & protected no claims.

Does this seem about right (no modded renewal is £730 with Liverpool Victoria which I thought was expensive) ?

Any mod friendly brokers/companies to try ?

Cheers

That is a good price - I pay £1150 for my mods - I am a year older than you and have full NCB and no convictions.
I have a tracker.

Do you have more than one car ?

I have a multi-car policy which does not care about mods.
It allows you to have as many cars as you like as long as they are all individually under a set figure (in my case 40k).
All are covered for full business use.
This is lumped in with our house insurance, travel insurance, etc, but the car part of it is 1700 quid (includes 2 group 20 cars and one group 19, plus a couple of others).

Clearly this is only cost effective if you have more than one car, but in our case it is considerably cheaper than insuring them all individually.
This is for both of us to drive any of the cars, living in a GU postcode, and I'm 38.

Try calling Bond Lovis on 0208 552 6900, and ask about the prestige Portfolio policy.

Jon, can you offer these policies ?
If you can I'll happily switch to use you next year.
(fyi cover notes are HSBC(Ireland) Ltd).

HTH.

Cheers,
John.

I think that's a good quote.
I've just renewed on my standard S4, I'm 16 years younger than you (17 years younger than Ian ) also with my Girlfriend on the policy too (3 yrs older than me) for £880 with protected NCD.
I've got no tracker, full no claims, 3 points back in '99 and a minor accident in May (for which I didn't claim) parked off road (not garaged) in a BS (bristol) postcode

The above is with Bell direct, who incidentally are a sister company of Elephant. Not sure if they do mods, but track day cover is a definate no-no.
They were by far the cheapest I could find.

Except Elephant specifically DO NOT cover the mods. So if your car is written off, they'll replace it with an equivalent but UNMODIFIED car.

I am with Bell too and pay £685 protected... 33 yrs 3pts Feb2000. They don’t like mods and added £75 for my wheels hence 760 now. Still I couldn’t squeeze any bigger ones into the arches

I am with Bell Direct, and they quoted me £36 for different wheels, £46 for different suspension (anything upto 50mm lower), and about £75 for a 325BHP. That would take my premium to around £800. I thought this was all pretty good.

Yeah!! I got the same quote when I originally asked for a quote. But when I did an upgrade/mod with my Bell policy started..the price went up
