Private Plate Transfer

Post by mrdeli » Mon Jul 02, 2007 10:26 pm

Can anyone tell me what's involved in putting a private plate on. I have had one on retention for quite a while.. can it be done online these days? Will it affect insurance premiums etc???

Just thought someone on here may have done it recently.

Regards All,

Mark

Just need to use the retention cert and assign it to a car of your choice and take it to your local DVLA office. Need insurance, MOT cert and Reg. Document and copy of tax disc.

Mark

take the retention to the DVLA office in Preston, its accross the road from Asda in Fulwood, you normally have to wait between 20 mins and a hour, so go at 9am when it opens, take a ticket from the machine when you go in. Parking is also a nightmare.

You present the retention with your V5 and they assign the number there and then and give you a new tax disc and a letter to authorise the plates being made. You then post the old tax disc back to them when you put your new plates on.

I have never been asked for insurance details and it didn't affect my premium.

What number you putting on?
