1. turn on radio
2. eject CD
3. insert new CD
4. return to scratching and/or juggling balls and drinking tea
Mine is going in Friday morning, so I'll take your instructions with me. ;)

Does anybody know if this disk is the same as the one for the A3 3.2 V6 (not the current model)? A friend of mine has one, and I don't know whether I should be getting him to enquire about an upgrade too.

The DVD is the same for ALL RNS-E fitted cars.

Is his a DVD based RNS-E (which on an 8L A3 must be a retrofit because they weren't available as an OE fit), or a CD based RNS-D?

RNS-E has a motorised screen and 1 big button, RNS-D has a manually moved screen and 2 big buttons.

If he has an RNS-E he's included in the free upgrade program.

If he has an RNS-D then he has to buy a TMC enabled CD from Tele Atlas - because TMC has been available on the RNS-D since 2004.

Phoned Slough Audi yesterday - wanted to charge me for labour. I queried this. They phoned me back after speaking "to my manager" and said it was definately chargeable! I was asked to contact Tom Peterkin when I mentioned him - couldnt they have done this? :?

Tom contacted Slough for me, they now know it isn't chargeable.

Anyone else going there dont take any crap - they know whats going on.

Just returned from Listers here in Coventry. TMC now working, had the RS4 startup done before Christmas and has been retained after upgrade. It took the tech. about 15mins to do after I arranged it over the phone and drove round to them (~20mins). No fuss and FOC.

Mines was done today by Harold Wood. No fuss and FOC. Damn forgot to ask them to put the RS4 start up on. Service guy did say he's expecting lots off annoyed A6 and A8 owners to be calling once more people become aware. As they hadt to pay for the labour.

Just had mine done at Newcastle Audi. First Class Service. Works like a dream. Also got a wash and vac FOC. If you live in the North East then get in touch with them.

Just got mine done FOC at Docklands. TMC light on . It didn't actually tell me about the traffic I then sat in for 20 minutes though. Or for that matter any other traffic thinking about it. :?:

It only tells you about congestion/roadworks/closures when you have a route active, and then only on that route. If you have automatic re-routing on you get a message telling you that you are being rerouted because of (and then gives the reason).

If you don't have a route active you have to press the INFO button and scroll down the list.

It should show you where the traffic hotspots are on the map even if routing is not active. Like so:

TMC signal comes from Radio 4, so you must have have Radio 4 coverage in the area you are in at the time (No, you don't have to listen to Radio 4!!)

There are a number of things that hang over the motorway, the traffic ones are generally green cone things.
