New owner. Few questions.

Picking up my first rs6 on Wednesday. I've got a couple of questions. Is there any way of connecting an iPod to the standard nav system? I really don't want to be using an I-trip. Is there any way of getting freeview to work with the normal tuner?

Fixed and FON.
Doing a search in ipod/iphone/isheep should get you a bit of the way on your hunt. Confirm that it is a normal RS6 that comes with the RNS-D head unit and not a Plus that comes with RNS-E.
There are quite a few ways of getting various levels of isheep connectivity as well as a couple of options for the TV, if you really, really think that you need it.
http://nav.tv/category/7/63/91 will get you started on one of the routes that you could go down.

Erm, just to be clear, I am pretty sure that the unit in the boot that you are talking about is the TV tuner, as I ripped all of that out of mine and my navigation still works fine. I had the Navtv expander cable that clipped in to that multiplug, but never used it. The TV tuner and the cd changer are just dead wait for me at least.

Oops and shush. Usual problem of me working on one screen and simultaneously spouting crap on the other screen, not paying enough attention to either of the tasks at hand.

Xcarlink for RNS-D / E gives you iPod connectivity and bluetooth. Got it in mine.
Kufatec aux-in cable let you plug in a DVB tuner or whatever else you want to plug in.

Got it in mine. Well, not DVB - that's as useless in a RS6 as a pube comb for elephants - but I've got a DVD changer plugged in and audio aux-in jack socket in the center console.

OK, I'll give you that one. I keep forgetting about Xcarlink stuff.
Sorry but I'm not going to give you the second one as you can't get freeview with the standard tuner. Yes you have a solution that involves adding on stuff but it's a lot of faffing about just to get freeview.
I do agree though, not sure why they put TV in cars unless they add rear screens so that kids can watch.

I've got a iPod connection kit from Dension which I use on my RNS-D system.
I can choose between the CD changer or the iPod. It charges the iPod when connected.
