What an awesome blast

Post by Mr V10 » Sun Jul 22, 2012 2:43 am

This time of night is the only time I can really enjoy the car as there are no other cars on the road. Hadn't really been able to drive this week on docs orders. So released some tension just now. The Milltek was screaming, the Hotchkiss making the car handle completly flat, the surge of power, just RELENTLESS with all 844nm . Except the brakes. Brake pad light came on today, I knew they needed changing, they lasted just over four months and 4.5k miles, proof for people (Footlong) that reckon I don't drive hard enough. I'm on my second tank of V Bastard in a day and left the car parked with a 1/4 in it, which of course, in typical C5 fashion means will show '0' tomorrow. Anyway, just on a high from that drive and wanted to share. Look how many bastard flies I killed. Anyone top this? G'night all.

Lucky you. I haven't driven my car for 7 weeks now. Aside from the one time 4 weeks ago where I destroyed my right front wheel that is.

I'm about to go nuts.

Driven mine loads this week for work (3 tanks of fuel) and have decided that she is not quick enough, I actually swear blind that she is slowing down. As for me saying that you don't drive hard enough, that is entirely up to you, drive how you see fit dude and within the conditions available to you. I need a lot more power to stay happy now but god knows when I will be able to sort that out......

When she is next up with Doug I think I will get her stuck on the dyno to see if any of the power has gone walkies...

I've been driving a rental Nissan Juke. The only time I ever come across any interesting cars is when I am in the wrong car. I saw in one trip a Maclaren MP4-12C, Bentley, R8 V10, RS6 C6 (first one I've seen on the road) and countless S/RS, BMW M.

Yesterday I was overtaken by a B7 RS4 and an M5. I was in my van. :(

When I'm in the RS6 I never come across anything interesting.

Good job on killing the brakes, Amar. Were those the cheapo pagids?

Oh, forgot to mention that when 2 up on my way back from Tesco yesterday with a boot load of food, I came across a RS4 B7 estate racing a SL500 and took them both. That was all well and good until I slid around my first roundabout just after taking them and crushed half the shopping. Pretty well par for the course for me though, a couple of curries exploded :D

I just want as much performance as my last Impreza had, then I might just be happy. No idea if that is even vaguely possible with this brick without selling all my internal organs. I am coming around more to the fact that I might have to shelve this car as a once in a blue moon driver and get something much lighter with a much higher power to weight ratio. Not going to sell her as not worth it so will just continue to fettle.

Your 0-60 times are probably the same as mine, Footlong. I did 0-60 in 4.33 seconds at GTI International, quickest C5 on the day did 4.22 and the guys who own the TT Shop reckon theirs does 0-60 in under 4 secs on the same strip. Hmm. I'm quite happy with the power of my car, and the handling for what it is. There is no doubt that I would have gone in a lot sooner last night had I not had the Hotchkiss installed, these are the best money I've spent on the car, the car just goes around corners with so much agility, it feels solid and not at all sloppy like it used to. It isn't over the top to say they've transformed the handling, if you have a C5, you NEED hotchkiss, the quality of them alone is stunning, the old bars look so feeble by comparison.

Shop - These are the ECP Pagid pads, I've done a lot of reading and please, anyone, who wants a very good value for money pad get Ferodo Premier pads from Opie Oils for about £80. I've only heard great things about them from road and track users and a lot of people have switched from the OE Pagids to the Ferodo Premiers and not looked back, it is what I should have done from the start, I only bought these as thought they'd be OEM without the Audi badges. I've sent ECP an e-mail asking for a refund. I've not been this dissapointed in a product in a long time.

Amar, I am not on the Hotkis ARBs as you know but I know of nobody that has gone from the H&R ones I am running to the Hotkis so there is no educated input on a possible wasting of £500 for me or not.

The more I drive her the more I get annoyed at what I reckon is a loss of speed. Just went out for a 20 mile blat with madam driving the Cupra and she pulled away from me every single time. Anything above cold temps seems to really kill the performance for me or it is something more serious but tbh, if she blows up then c'est la vie as I am not attached to this car the way I have been to my others.

Once company taxes etc are paid then I will see where I stand and will either pour one last buttload of cash in this pit or just get a better second car, really don't know. Still lusting after a cupra with 350 or so brake and matching torque all going through the front wheels.

Footlong, you can try my car with the Hotchkiss if you like, I'm getting Michelin Super Sport tyres next (won't be long) so it will be a fairly level playing field bar different coilovers. Went out for another drive today as won't drive it for another week now, I'm glad I did as found an awesome road with lots of sweeping curves that I would have avoided had it not been for my new ARBs. I also took some shots by Warwick castle, nothing especially brilliant but as we all like pictures here, I thought I'd share anyway.

Not pulling from a Cupra I bet is very annoying. I can only assume its not stock and/or like you said something is very wrong. Shame you're not enjoying it so much, time to move on I think.
