Sat Nav - mid Atlantic

Post by Daveperc » Sun Jun 10, 2012 9:23 pm

Ok, I know it's wet out there tonight, but just found Sat Nav has me placed somewhere mid Altlantic.

I know it's come up before, but I'm feeling lazy (an mildly frustrated!) tonight. Is it just the roof puck I need to change or is there something else??

Pretty sure it's the GPS antenna. Roof puck it is. Unless you want to put a different antenna somewhere else in the car to save the bother.

Thanks Shop - that's what I thought.

I'll check it's plugged in properly at the back of the unit when I have it out to fit the xcar link and if that end's OK then a new puck it is. Think I'll stay OEM to save hassle.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can unscrew the roof puck through the interior light to avoid messing with the headlining.

Yes it the roof GPS reciever went on mine recently. 70 odd quid gets you a fitted and stronger receiver in the dash by the boys at Hazzy Dayz, works very well, ask nicely and get a more recent disc to go with it. :) Equally and while your at it have a look at having a new ipod interface installed perhaps Dave?

so i can fit my c6 arial even if it doesnt work, although it should, im just unsure of cable lengths, does anyone know where the standard c5, gps arial point connectors connect to the main car ? behind the CD changer?

Yes if you have the puck in the dash the roof GPS reciever is rendered useless I believe so you can either remove it or have what you want there. Ive just put a stubby on there. The FM recievers for the rubbish radio are in the rear side windows IIRC. Not sure on the sizes etc but I expect the The Shop will be along soon :)

The GPS unit on the roof holds the radio aerial on. The receivers in the side Windows aren't good enough on their own.

cheers chucky, do you know where the standard C5 arial physically connect to the main loom? i.e half way up the C pillar or behind the CD changer etc etc.

the leads i have on my C6 arial are quite long but need to know where they physically connect on the C5, also anyone got any ideas how to get the C5 interior "C" pillar trims off?
