Aftermarket Headlight

Are there any aftermarket headlights for the rs6 4b c5 avant?
Was looking around on eBay and the only headlights I could find were the ones for the a6 4b (01-04).
Those don't seem to fit, they are a bit larger than the ones on the rs6.

The RS6 doesn't have bi-xenon.

I find that the headlights are good. Better than most cars I've driven.

No, the B7 does, though. Maybe you are thinking of that?

Seems you need the so called facelift ones from the a6 model or the a6 v8 ones.

In the RS6 brouchure it lists 'Bi Xenons' as standard equipment.
When you put your main beam on in the RS6 you can hear a shutter open up, a clicking sort of noise. Now, on the D2 A8 & S8 models where you could spec Bi Xenons from 1999, the ones that made that noise had the Bi Xenons and the ones that didn't had normal Xenons. There is a goods explanation for that noise, let me find it.

All Audi Xenon headlamps after circa 2001 are Bi Xenon.
Basically means you have just one bulb doing the work of both the low beam and high beam, by the use of a relay activated cut off shutter.

This is the explanation from Ian on A8 Parts.
Xenon headlights have a xenon bulb for the dipped beam, and a halogen bulb for the main beam and for flash. This is most common type of Xenon installation on many cars, not just the A8.

Bi Xenons have a single xenon bulb that is used for both dipped beam and main beam, this is done by physically lifting the bulb housing up when main beam is turned on, which is rather cool. There is also an additional halogen bulb in there for 'flash' as a xenon cant warm up fast enough for a quick flash when required. The Halogen also illuminates when on main beam for extra light, and if dipped beam is on, then when you flash you get the halogen on and the xenon bulb lifts.
.

The clicking sound you get (try it) when you put your main beam on is the shutter lifting which gives a Xenon high beam. When you flash someone pass, the Xenons can't warm up quick enough so you see a Halogen flash. I think in new cars now, the Xenon main beam is always on, and the shutter just opens and closes very fast to allow you to use your Xenon to flash someone.

Finding a replacement set on eBay seems harder than I thought.
As far as I know there are no aftermarket headlights.

Just need to keep checking eBay regularly to get my hands on a new or used set.
