Why so cheap?

I've been shopping around for either a C5 RS6 or e39 M5 for a while. I'm in no rush and only looking locally in Edinburgh so not had much luck so far.
My question is though - why are the prices of the RS6 dropping so fast?
I've just seen that there are 10 sub £10k ers on auto trader (out of only 43 so nearly 25%!). Loads of them have the positive stuff like the full Audi service history, long ownership etc. Some are even sub 100k miles.
31 of the 43 for sale are under £13k (72%).
Normally I would avoid anything that cheap, but when there are so many then maybe I shouldn't be as quick to right them off as duds...

If you are looking for E39 M5 the one thing I will say is Check the vanos units on both cylinder heads they were common to fail and at £1.5k per bank expensive too.

Not manly people want a thirsty expensive to run circa ten year old car no matter how fast it is!

The prospect of being stalked by Amar is making these cars less desirable...if you see

in your rearview mirror...be afraid...very afraid

Hilarious. I'm surprised you didn't tell "Scotland" there are now too many Aussies owning these great cars, thus lower the tone of ownership by association.
Why so bitter?

Man I aint that bitter...the Aussie banter was getting a bit tiresome but the boy Amar takes things to a new level of boredom...think it was his numerous posts about seeing other RS6's...when he posted that he had actually turned his car round and given chase/been lurking in car parks taking shots of random RS6's (WTF)...something snapped...I miss informative posts from the likes of JCViggen and others who seem to have deserted...for maybe the same reason?

Baku, I'll adress those two points again. (sorry everyone else that is no doubt getting bored).
1. I ONLY turned around as I knew that RS6 owner and we had been meaning to meet up, you're trying to make out I go around chasing random RS6s.
2. I didn't hang around all day to take photos, I took one as I arrived and another as I left, it took about a minute and was on my mobile, trust me, if I had hung around all day I would have taken some better shots (see the ones on site homepage) the ones that you accuse me of 'hanging around all day' taking have my thumb in view and can easily seen to be rushed/poor quality.
What else did you say on that thread? Oh yes, the forum was great before I came along, even though I joined a LONG time before you, so that is another flawed theory.
The RS6 obsession - I've hardly the highest post count on here.
The only person ruining the forum right now is you, you've already made an embarrassment of yourself, I've had loads of members PM me and tell me how they value me on the forum and what a n0b they think you are, and still you don't stop, I feel sorry for the others having to read your crap, add to your 'foes' list if you hate me that much, I actually thought we could have moved on from that embarassing (for you) drunken late night thread you posted like adults.

I'm still here pretty much every day just not always much things to reply to!
It gets old complaining about my own car
Driving around with the bloody MIL on because one of the rear lambdas has a faulty connection. The rear lambdas were "programmed out" by MRC unfortunately what that means is the fuel trim/catalyst related DTC's are disabled but you still get the bloody codes if your sensor gets disconnected or goes tits up. There you go, how's that?

...but you
are bitter? Ok, so now you're the voice of the whole forum and how all the disenfranchised are feeling, or is it just you and only you? Do you think JC
et al need to just sit there churning out informative posts 24/7 and there be nothing else? Use your head, people go through timelines with their RS6 ownership and the forum, we'd all sound like cracked records if we stayed the course. Everything that could happen to these cars has been 'reported' in these forum pages, what's left is diversity, opinion and personality, get over it, move on OR at least try not to be so caustic.
@Scotland - my advice is to pick one carefully and have Grizz at Unit20 look it over (he's the closest specialist to you). If all good, buy it and drive for 3-6 months and then sell it on for zero depreciation and 'maybe' zero maintenance costs... I say 'maybe' because it could:
a) break
b) get addictive and you keep it too long
c) you start modifying it
Incidentally, you joined in 2008, have you owned a fast Audi before?

Settle petal...If my couple of posts make you think twice before posting the most tedious banal pish...they will have served a purpose...
Ps I may have received a couple of PM's thanking me for saying what others have been thinking...have you considered that scenario Amar

Nope, I saw the support you got on that thread, everyone thought you were a nob. Even the mighty
Shop you seem to love waved you goodbye. It was because of the response you had on that thread you came about with that cowardly apology.
