No longer a RS6 owner..

Post by micdee » Sat Mar 10, 2012 7:23 am

Although I was not a regular poster I did go through a lot of posts to get info and just to learn more about my phantom, the black RS6 C5

But as from somewhere in the night of tuesday on wednesday I am no longer in the possession of my RS6.

to sum it up: it is stolen.

I guess there are two options:
1) it sits somewhere in a shed to be used as a run-away car in a big heist or
2) it is on its way to JC Viggen (Eastern Europe) for spare parts... or to be sold....

@ JC just kidding, but a lot of those cars go to eastern europe for whatever reason.......

Bummer. I doubt it'll come this far though, it'd cost a fortune to get on the road. They tend to end up in the eastern swamps of the EU usually :(

aRSholes - gutted for you. I was reading a post on here a while back (think it was Mav) about a gang who take RS audi for bank jobs - think one of them was killed after a high sprred chase.

Fingers crossed it may be found and returned, was it on a public road, garage etc?

<beep> hell that sucks.
Where was it stolen, whats the licenseplate so i can watch for it when im on the road.
Its a daily nightmare at the moment in the Netherlands, theyre the most stolen car nowadays over here...they got stolen at dealers and at home.

What was the security the car was fitted with? Cos nowadays the track n trace systems are useless because they have a kind of box that got fiited on the car and disturbs the track n trace system...

Sorry mate. :(

License plates (if they will still be on it, they tend to use stolen plates of a similiar looking car) 67-NL-KF
last four digits of the VIN 4163

It was parked in front of the house (on public parking space)
We heard nothing. A neighbour told me he heard a car alarm for about 10 secs and then it was shut off and the car drove away.
As I work irregular hours he thought nothing wrong about it.

before mine was stolen I already learned that there are some sort of general VAG car keys which you can use to get almost any VAG cardoor open.
(there is a YouTube video I believe in which a person opens 7 porsche 911 parked in front of a dealer)
a friend at the Seat dealer told me that they know of a transmitter which sends a 1000 or more keycodes to the car at once and that way open the door and also disable the alarm.
Then there is a device which can be connect to the OBD connector in the car to disable the immobilizer.........
And ofcourse the GSM/GPS scrambler which you can order from hongkong or taiwan for pennies to disable your 1000+ pound costing tracking device.

@ mavada : yeah and it all happened right after I mentioned in your topic at AudiForum that they had forgotten about me.... what are the odds huh???

Sucks man  That's one reason why I don't put much trust in car alarms. The kind of scum looking to steal cars like these don't have a problem with most stuff available on the market. I feel a bit better with mechanical obstacles such as a bear lock that jams the gear selector. Would take them a lot more than 10 seconds to get around that. Such locks are extremely popular here in Russia which I guess lends them quite a bit of credibility.

Too late now though, hope it gets recovered in the coming weeks, there's always a chance (if it was stolen to be used in a future "event")

...there will be obscure figures who are searching these forums.
so be carefull with what to post guys.

Will these locking things help to prevent it getting stolen? or at least takes more time to get it stolen...

Maybe but it's hardly practical. If I was leaving the country for a few weeks and left the car behind I'd use something like that, but not after every commute.

...where to get the bear lock that jams the gear selector? those methods (and the steeringlock) require heavy tools to get them out i think...
would be nice to get a simple method to get the ecu out when parked :D

I have heard of a system that is completely invisible. It's an antitheft / anticarjacking device. When you open the car door you have 30 seconds to complete a sequence of button presses (cruise control buttons followed by volume up for example - you decide). If you don't do this, the car turns itself off after a mile or so. Very effective.

I am fairly concerned about mine as I live right next to 2 fairly grotty areas and apart from a white 2010 RR sport, my car is by far the nicest in the area. I can't fit her in the garage so she sits on the drive, I can't use any locking wheel bolts to protect the wheels if you go by what is on these forums and the tracker I have is now defunct just by buying a jammer, freely available over here, for sodding £57!!!!

My cars have always got a lot of unwanted attention from the local scrotes but apart from one nasty bit of vandalism and my dustcaps getting nicked a few times, I have fair a lot better than others who have had their petrol stolen repeatedly or their cars nicked.

However, just this morning I was in the kitchen and noticed a random Borat-like person in a beaten up IS200, parked across the road looking the car over. When I went out of the door to make like an angry dog, he drove off, still staring back at the car. Not the first time this has happened but nothing has ever come of it. Perhaps my spidey-senses are in extra paranoia mode today since finding out that the scum have yet another way to easily get away with our cars.....
