Tightenging up suspension
Tightenging up suspension
I've spoken to Grizz about occasional feedback through the car when driving down bumpy country lanes. Its typically all right on good maintained roads.
I think they call it scuttle, but it’s basically like a shudder that vibrates through the floor pan of car. I can certainly feel it through the drivers side floor pan/pedals.
Grizz thinks it might be a common issue with the brake pedal housing having some play in it.
Anyone else found this...
Also - what parts / bushes on the suspension are worth replacing to make it feel new and tight. On my old M5, I changed most of the bushes and antiroll bar links and it made a world of difference, it certainly cured a knocking over similar roads, and the looseness wear feel.

Have same experience with mine. Seller of mine advised me of it and said Crawley Audi advised it was not an issue.

It's something Audi got wrong for the right hand drive cars. Isn't there some fix with a heavy duty cable tie?

Re: Tightenging up suspension
I think Grizz / Doug can do a pedal box rebuild can't they? That's the most expensive fix I would imagine, however I think the story was that even then it did not completely stop the occurence?

Re: Tightenging up suspension
Vibrating peddle box bugs the hell out of me, not acceptable in a car such as this. I wouldn't expect it in a Punto. It is definitely my peddles that vibrate and they are really bad, need to get it done very soon. It is the only fault with the car.

Re: Tightenging up suspension
Thats put my mind at rest. Grizz said they have machined a bush that pretty much eliminates it. He also said my suspension was all good, but when you're enjoying a nice back road, with a bit of pace, it really spoils the feel of the build quality when every bump causes a vibration through the pedals... to me it feels like the floor plan as well - but given feedback I guess it must be brake pedal. Has anyone had this done, and can they confirm its worth doing?
Re: Tightenging up suspension
I could never live with it, doesn't sound like you can eitheir. Get it booked in ASAP, I know I'm going to.

Re: Tightenging up suspension
its a long trip for me - you get it done first and report back - I'm doing the v10 RS6 brake setup next so will get this done at the same time. A few months away though
Re: Tightenging up suspension
There has got to be some way of attaching a spring to the brake pedal to stop it vibrating...

Re: Tightenging up suspension
Fixes that involve cable ties instead of expensive machined bushes still impress the fu*k out of me Shop...I might work in Baku but I'm an Aberdonian thru and thru!!Shoppinit wrote:These days I get the impression I'm mostly talking to myself.Shoppinit wrote:Isn't there some fix with a heavy duty cable tie?
Re: Tightenging up suspension
I had the bush fix on mine, never compared it to the cable tie fix.
Seemed to be ok.

Re: Tightenging up suspension
Its fitting the damn bush that's the problem, I'm far from Grizz too, takes about 2/12-3hours. Worth the trip though, should have had it done when I had my belt etc done. Will look into the MRC cable tie thing as they are 20mins away but I would want it to be a proper fix, not just to improve it a bit.

Re: Tightenging up suspension
drives me mildly potty too and everyone that has driven her has commented on it, to the point where one of them won't drive her on anything but smooth main roads. I take it that MRC have a workaround/improvement of sorts that they can do but don't have the machined bushes that unit 20 do?
As much as I would want it sorted as well as possible, I can't use all that fuel and time going all the way to Unit 20 to get it done. Ah well..
