Temp sensor P/N?

Hi, I wonder if someone could help me with a part number please. It's for the engine temperature sensor that sends to the dash dial. It's basically going up and down like a yoyo one day and then fine the next and from this thread http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 1&start=15 it seems to point to the sensor being the problem. It's located on the passenger side of the engine bay and you have to take the airbox off to get to it. Also is there a "how to" to do this? From what I've read it's a fairly simple job and I'm quite competent but a set of instructions would be great :D

Thanks in advance

With the temp going up and down, it is probably the Thermostat , which has a temperamental and finite lifespan

Temp sensor : 059 919 501 A
Thermostat : 077 121 113 D
Thermostat O ring : N 901 368 02

Your symptoms are exactly what I would expect from a faulty sender.

It's easy to change. Have a look at the plug change sticky to see how to get your airbox off. THen you'll see it down the back on the right of the engine looking at it from the front (it's green). The retaining U-clip pulls out perpendicular to the sender then you can extract the sender. Pop it out and the new one in quick before you lose too much coolant. Don't forget to top up the coolant at the end.

The part number is: 059 919 501A

It's such a common problem it's not funny. Why do Audi do this with some parts?
