Nope, haven't had her detailed in forever, even use the machine car washes nowadays, I don't have time to wash cars myself these days.

Picked up the mirror today, it is actually the entire unit, not the glass only which Camberley Audi seemed to think it would be...

Looked at the clip design on the new unit, figured what I thought would be the way to remove the old one, cracked the hell out of the windscreen due to rushing, due to a million jobs today, due to family coming to stay tomorrow... Made the big ass star-shaped crack even worse putting the old mirror back on the stalk :D

The only good thing is that the old windscreen was the original and had sooooooooooooooo many microchips in it, but the buggers can't fit it until Saturday.

Well, my replacement rear view mirror hasn't arrived yet (found it a bit cheaper elsewhere, including delivery to my doorstep, to save me having to find time to visit the stealers again), but I was planning on following this guide to fit it:

https://youtu.be/gFnLg0VzIDA

Looks like the key thing is to rotate it 90°, as it uses some form of cam to attach/detach it.

Lol, you guys are confusing me with someone that gives a crap. The screen was very tired as it has literally hundreds of microchips in it so in a way it is a good thing.

Cheers for the vid, if I have to fit the new one I will go with that :D.

P.S. just watch that vid, I was specifically twisting to the right to remove the old one, but I wasn't getting the slightest inkling of movement, so then tried other things and here we are....

^^ What he said :D
Don't think I even turned the engine off - fortuned across an empty car park, took a few shots and then left (so more like the "eats shoots and leaves" type of panda  ).

I've stitched them together and uploaded them. Excuse the dust/debris from the workshop.

Can you spot which new parts I've yet to fit?
Car's looking dirty again already, but I've fitted the missing parts now - the new wheel nut covers and headlight trims.
Although I'd bought genuine black optics headlight trims, I still wrapped them gloss black before fitting them, to match the trims on the rest of the car.

New screen has just gone on and is a very close, if not dead on match. Lovely guy doing that work that loves these old beast. He spent 3 minutes trying to get the old mirror off the old glass as he wanted to give it to me as a spare, but she ain't budging! I am actually glad because there was a slight doubt that I was exactly what you described above, but the old one has gone in to his van with the mirror still attached, funk you very much :D.

Just to go back on topic, yes Nick, your car is very sexy, old big batty gyal, there, I said it.

Thank you.
I've not attempted to fit my new rear view mirror yet. Maybe I should pay an insured 'expert' to fit it for me, just in case!

He had to space out the teeth on the new mirror in order to get it on, we both looked and tried before doing that but watching the new window flexing was too much.
