Rear gearbox/driveshaft seal

I went to Audi this morning (again) to have a look at the leaking rear gearbox driveshaft seal (partnr. 39221950). it was leaking again after they replaced it about a year ago. but i found out they only replaced the seal instead of the redeveloped part (housing or something..). so now they are looking if it can be replaced under warranty, i said you bet, because at the time they already mentioned that redeveloped part, but (for unknown reason...) didnt fit it, just the seal..

My one was replaced recently, due to ATF being put in rather that gear oil. Didnt have to pay labour and the seal was about 10 quid!
I didnt get the housing replaced. whats different about the housing?

i think they said it was a better design because there were more complaints about this issue (leaking)
ive spoken to Audi just minutes ago and they are willing to skip the labour of replacing the part, but i do have to pay for the housing 375 euros...
i could suggest just replacing the seal to see if that helps (at no costs...)although it was replaced 3000 km ago, maybe wrong fitted...

What is the part number of the housing? This doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
I would be tempted to just get them to fix the seal FOC.

yes that was i thinking to. they also said the driveshaft maybe bent....

i think they mean the housing in which the seal is located...dont have a partnumber, but it was mentioned a year ago...

I dont know if housing is another word for flange?
I got that seal replaced last year by AMD, including the flange. I don't think it was as much as 375eur (equivalent in £) either all included.

Get them to change the seal. And if it goes again they can change it again. Eventually they'll put the improved part on instead of trying to make you pay for it.

i think they hedge themselves to prevent replacing the seal over and over again by saying the new part has to be installed...(new cover/seal Assy (01V409524A).

got mine done last month whilst gearbox was getting refurb, its was noticed that its was leaking at the gearbox . seems to be a fault with this item yet again Audi have replaced item with new updated version, i think it was around £150-170 if I remember. The chap I go to has got 3 rs6's in with the same fault.
