I have had that one on in the week, I started the engine but the headlamp plug was out so it lost its memory position.

I have in the past just raised the car up to get the sensor in the voltage range to allow it to store. It is a real pain in the arse that you cannot edit that valid voltage range.

Unfortunately I don't currently have a digital camera ; The most accurate description of the orange warning light illuminated in the DIS is detailed on page 36 of the owners handbook - don't know if you have one to hand, but if so the image is under the heading of ' Headlight range control faulty '
Hope that helps
Cheers
You are welcome to bring it round and I'll help you find the fault at some point?

Then I get to see her again !
Appreciate the offer Steve - I'll see if I can get it looked at/fixed more locally first and take it from there.
Thanks

Hi Steve - not really mate ; been really busy at work. All I've done is phone Audi to see when/how much for a diagnosis, and also done a bit of searching on the internet but,as always, much of it is unclear conflicting (and hence the call to Audi). You mentioned that you had the fault a couple of months before I bought the car ; The only invoice I can see was way back in '09 for a switch and repair kit .... was that for the range control issue ?
Cheers

So, took the car into Audi for a diagnostic check on the fault (Monday). This resulted in a replacement part being ordered and fitted yesterday. Needless to say that despite the almost unbelievable hourly rates (which pays for highly sophisticated equipment / experienced technicians ), I get a call to say the fault persists and another appointment needs to be made for further investigation.

Excellent.... Was it difficult to locate?

I've been looking at pictures of her today, she is stunning. She is the only car I have ever nearly cried over and selling was probably the dumbest thing I did. I look weekly for a replacement and nothing yet..... :bash:

Honestly,I didn't do it. I ordered the bits after it had been diagnosed, then these were fitted whilst in for a service. Been fine since.
The car is still great-try hard to keep it in tip-top mechanical condition and its washed and waxed regularly. Applied some zymol just yesterday in fact!

What’s the fault?

Use the measuring blocks to see what voltage the level senders are reporting. Should be close to 2.5v on a level surface. Assuming your car is close to stock height.
