RWC

Roll up, roll up, place your bets!

Who's gunna win the Rugby World Cup?

I'm never opinionated and I never rant, ever, honest. But for this little thread I thought I'd go off on one...

- France are always a dark horse and are the only team to best eNZud when least expected, however, this time, apart from their group pools, they can only ever meet in the final, that's bad omen if you ask me.
- eNZud probably deserve to win this the most from any team at the RWC and they'll be so hard to beat on home soil but something always goes wrong for them this time every four years, so the stats are against them.
- Australia will have to contend with the recurring Ungland boogieman, I still think Ungland have got our number in the big games and Australia don't have any big games until Sat 15 Oct where we'll probably meet, (you guessed it) Ungland. It's very probable that Mungo Cooper will somehow cost us that game, or our forward pack will implode, leaving our scrum folding quicker than an origami master on amphetamines.
- I don't think Ungland can go all the way, the selection is a little too defensive and there's not a lot experience... and I hate them.
- Ireland, based on current form, nup.
- Wales, I'd love to see them turn it on but Gatland has become delusional and they've had too many key players out of action for too long, very few games together at full strength and mid-field lacks penetration.
- The Argies, their tight five always school whomever they play but without Hernández, there's not a lot sting to the attack.
- Going against all my sensibilities I think SA has a serious mountain to climb AND they have one of the toughest routes through, but, if they make it through to the final stages they'll be rock-hard. They've certainly got the players to win a world cup with by far the most experienced team in the tournament. I know their form has been <beep> of late but I'm sticking my neck out.

Predictions

1. bam_bam - SA to win.
No matter where you go, there you are.

You could be no more full of it compared to me. True, Dingo Deans has fixed our forwards but I still see our first five-eigth being too flakey, that and our goal kicking has cost too many games. Carter will out play the Mungo if it ends in a finals meeting, the only other way for us to win over eNZud in such a big game is to starve you of ball (a la 2003), but I'd put money on McAwe over Poo-cock in that showdown, as good as he is... that hurt to write too. To be honest, I'd rather have won the Bledisloe cup and crash out of the 3N and RWC. I hate you bastards for how long you've hogged that thing.

I think NZ for the big win.

Although I am secretly (and pointlessly) rooting for the USA. Your heart has got to go out to a team who plays a sport that none of their compatriots have ever heard of. Not only that but they play hard and with spirit.

What can I say, I like the underdog...
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

You might laugh Shopp but the USA rugby body has been given a whole bunch of money recently to develop the sport. If you combine that with just how many semi-pro/pro level Gridiron players that are surplus to requirements every year after the college drafts, they have an amazing pool of physical types to choose from, if they could just get all their other <beep> together, they'd be a force...

Ok, we'll take Russel Crowe but you've still got Paul Henry.
NOTE: the lady at the very start of the clip, with the hairy lip...
