A Friday drive

So, I got up this morning at 04:30, picked up some mates for a rugby tour at 05:00 and then drove to Edinburgh. Arrived at 11:04 with only one stop. As far as smooth journey's go, the '6 smashed it. Loads of fun above the border too.
The other lads mocked us... They're still stuck on a train somewhere around Newcastle.
Now we're drinking...

I don't know about that, they'll be hammered on the train... But we're in a nice bar first.

Which road did you take? The A697 is one of my favourites!

What rugby are you watching?

I can't wait for the Rugby world cup. Should be every year, 2 at most :)

We've come up for a couple of games and to watch the touch rugby world cup. I can't wait for the RWC. Have you been watching the U20s RWC? Those lads really put their bodies on the line, some of the fastest open play I've seen, ever, top stuff. The Argies are looking so good, scares me to think they're joining the Tri-nations next year... I think Oz will be wooden spooners. :(

Nice!

On return journey HIGHLY recommend you drive Edinburgh - Moffat on the A701 - it's the local Nurburgring equivalent - from there you join A74 / M6 south.

It's called the "Devil's Beef-Tub". Google it to find out why!

P. S. please have fun but be careful on this road - one casualty this month! It's a proper brain-out ring style route!

Top road A701, use to live Moffat way and enjoy the odd night out out in Edinburgh - taking the 701 north.....but as drybeer mentions do be careful...! Not done it in my '6, as i lad i had gone all old school with a 944 turbo - which was nice, but i def favour the '6 now...!

I did it on the way here, loved it, passengers not so much. They told me we got airborne at least twice.

Nice!

I went to Longniddry today (and back) for a family get together and travelled the 701 but I took the company barge C7 2.0TDi...

Even in the slow car driven uber-sensibly with wife, my mother, and the two mini-meees on board still came up on "Sunday driver" traffic - wtf?

You're doing 40mph on a great road like this and THEN you break for the corners?

Must drive it in the '6 but solo occupancy again soon.
