Kill Switch

I want to get a kill switch installed on my car, security at the apartment complex I live in chased off some car thieves the other night.
Now without anyone actually mentioning any location of where they would install a kill switch inside the car (the only people who will steal RS6's will be pro's who might do a bit of research), what all is involved?
Is it simpy just witing it to the loom to shut down the fuel pump the best way?

Problem with kill switches is that the thieves know ALL the places. I know this from experience, sadly.
Still, if you want then I would probably cut the ECU relay power. Or fuel pump. Or both. Depends how invovled you want to get.
Lots of things you could do to stop an RS6 running. The real trick is keeping them running

Have you thought about one of these?

They are very good, if a bit ungainly; Don't bother with other types, has to be a full covering;

I'm sure one could think of a good place to hide the switch, but you have to interrupt the wiring somewhere (it's nearly always to the fuel pump which is the most straight forward) and that's a rather obvious place most of the time. If you do interrupt the fuel pump, make sure the wiring is up to the job there is quite a bit of current being drawn and it's easy to suffer a significant voltage drop to the pump.
I think mechanical locks work best. I've got one of these
http://www.niedzwiedz-lock.pl/enblokada.php plus an electronic immobilizer that cuts both ECU and the fuel pump (thinking of getting rid of it though as it has stalled the car while driving several times when it couldn't see the credential for a few seconds)

You probably wouldn't cutr the power to the fuel pump, but to the fuel pump relay, but then yuo could just short circuit the relay to get the pump going. I think the RS6 fuel pump is pulling a lot of current;
I like the gear lock. I was thinking about a switch that would cut power to the gear lever solenoid. That would have a similar effect.

Thanks for the info!
Im thinking that the car is basically not going to get stolen without the key. Where its parked, there is security on patrol at home and in work, and anyone seaking to steal it without the key would have to spend a bit of time and know what they were doing.
So what I had in mind was something that cut the car out after after they had got far enough away to not come back. I wouldnt want myself and the missus safety put at risk if someone broke during the night into get the keys, then found it wouldnt start and came straight back to make me start it. My friend has an Interga (thief magnet) and he has a little panel which he hits a 4 digit code into each and every time he starts the car (has to be done within a minute), if its not input, the car cuts out and the alarm goes off.
Anyone got or know of anything similar?

I wish that were true.
There are plenty of anticarjacking alarms available where the immombiliser will cut in after a mile or so.

Was yours stolen quickly, without the key and a kill switch??

Not my RS6. But otherwise yes and yes.
Kill switches are a bit of a joke. Car theives will find them very quickly unless you get very very inventive; Better than nothing though.
Get the steering wheel lock. It's a royal pain in the ass for a thief and will probably make him move on.
Or both.
Ultimately, though, it's only a car; Better hand them the keys if they come asking.

Take your flat number off the parking bay (assuming they didn't number them sequentiality) I did that when I lived in a flat and so did other residents so they would have a hard time getting right the flat for the keys.
I also use a steering wheel lock just to show a potential thief that I am expecting them and keep the glove box and arm rest open and empty. I had the pleasure of busted glass one morning in London.
Protecting your keys is the main way to protect the car but don't forget it is better the car goes than getting hurt.
(It would appear from recent events in the news that if four blokes come into your house you can't defend yourself!

Talk to Rich at Viper tuning..... he has a wicked system..... was going to put it on my 6.
Its totally brilliant and the concept is simple, but effective.

Switchable APR tune comes standard with immobiliser. Needs code activated through cruise control to start engine. If correct code not entered, engine will turn over with key, but will not fire. Check out APR web site. Immobiliser kicks in if battery removed. This then tests owners memory of method of correct code setting procedure!

Yeah, but I would have to sell a kidney to buy an APR tune.
I'm hearing good things about viper.

My idea of a 'kill switch' involves a button you press after the horrible scrote has driven away, 50,000 volts, the seat heating filament, and a very scorched one of these --->
