There I was marvelling at the months of trouble free motoring I've have had - not been near a garage since last November (a record?!) - worrying about little 'repairs' such as the odd pop rivet here and there and maybe a PDC sensor, when...

...tried to accelerate away from a T junction on the way to work this morning when all I got was lots of revs and very little movement.

A few more experiments of gentle take offs and I've concluded that I'm getting lots of revs and then second gear bangs in. A few more and then PRNDS are all lit up and I'm travelling along very sedately.

So it's currently sat in the car park at Stirling Audi and I'll hopefully find out tomorrow how much more I need to add to the, now almost £50k, this beast has cost me so far...

Still I've had four years of motoring for that which is more than the first owner got for his £60+k...

Probably the best way to look at it in these situations..

the car cost £29k, the rest has been repairs to bits that broke. Somewhere on here is a spreadsheet with the inventory - albeit it's over a year out of date. Maybe I'll re-post after tomorrow - assuming I survive my wife's, "how much this time" inevitable question.

actually I take that back - somewhere in there are two cam belt changes

Sorry to hear about your gearbox (or more specifically TC). Would be interested to know how much Audi quote, believe the book time is 20 odd hours but heard some will try an up this as it's a pain in the arse job.

Can also relate to the spend, your car was a huge amount more expensive than mine but not including petrol, tax or insurance mine has been around £8k (3k under warranty) for 2100 miles or £3.80 a mile! Car is just approaching 49k miles and I have receipts from Audi from previous owners for well over £21k on repairs!

Thanks Marv8... My fingers are crossed that they diagnose the fault correctly first time and that then the warranty will cover some or all of the cost...

Do you mind me asking who your warranty is with? My Gearbox s*hit it's self shortly after I got the car, warranty that came with the car would only pay for a new TC and gearbox rebuild. If this is the case it is really worth doing your homework on the specialist they suggest (Audi will not supply or fit a re-con).

Had mine done in feb and taken it back twice as not happy - currently at last chance saloon before legals

Just had my TC an Valve body replaced about a month ago. Now its started to slip badly from 2nd to 3rd. Now the box has to come back out again. Take my advice if the box is out do a complete Trans Rebuild. It will cost you more now, but less (hopefully no more) headaches in the future...................

Have you not got warranty?

I never said I'd paid all that myself. y. Thank goodness for warranties.

What third party warranty is as solid as an Audi policy and roughly how much?
