spring colour codes?
spring colour codes?
following on from my thread about the (RS6 KNOCKING NOISE) left my car with lake district audi
whilst i went on my hols
to investigate it further. after re-checking all the drc pressures and looked at other poss's they have noticed that the springs fitted to the front arent the original colour codes for the plus. looked through the history of the car and there has been no evidence of audi changing the springs. they are genuine springs fitted now which are colour coded orange/blue/yellow (stiffer), the correct colour should be green/green/green/violet part no 8E0411105 CK. not sure if the owner from new may have requested a stiffer front end as one of his options, but the previous owner hadnt. lake district audi have been more than helpfull with the whole investigation both the service and technical staff there, im just in a decision as to live with the slight vibration through the pedal or spend money on origianl springs and end up preferering the set up that i have now

Re: spring colour codes?
The slight vibration through the pedal will probably not improve I am afraid. It is a result of the rather dated chassis and Audi's insistence that suspension should be made of rock. The subject is well versed within the forum. Changing the bushes in the pedal box can help but is difficult.
Re: spring colour codes?
yeah it looks like thats the only route if i was to persue it. i will just prob monitor it, just thought id put the post on to see if anyone had used the different springs mentioned and noticed a difference
gonna give the car a go at my first detail, been itching to do it ever since i bought it. ordered some kit so will post some piccys after its done

Re: spring colour codes?
Er, my springs were black. Where is this colour code?

Re: spring colour codes?
lol exactley what i thought, mine are the same, black. they had somebody from technical to come and have a look at the car, im presuming theres a code (numbered) or some other way of identifying the springs. ive tried googling the codes/colours/part no's but nothing really matches the search. not sure if anyone has a set of audi springs lying around to see where the code is?
Re: spring colour codes?
Huh, I was convinced that Audi were making up fairy stories again, but here they are:

Re: spring colour codes?
They have told me I've got orange blue yellow. But there not sure what there off. I presume other Rs springs fit the 6?
In the history with the car the first owner reported the rattle on the pedal and audi replaced the pedal assemblies with a comment saying ok, customer to monitor. The car is under audis warranty but not sure where I stand with the spring situation?
I noticed you've got a sport suspension plus (red) in your list, I would have thought the plus would be fitted with red. Audi say it's 3 green 1 violet. Where did you find the List?

Re: spring colour codes?
No, the sports plus suspension was option on both, I think. Possibly a no cost option on the plus.
The only car I found with orange blue yellow is a polo with rough road option
I couldn't find any spring available for any A6 of any type that had your colour codes.
