Coilpack "recall'

I thought only the RS4 B7s were concerned, but I saw an article recently that suggested all the V8 engines (and many other engines besides) are concerned by this service campaign.
Does anyone know if it applied to the RS6?

I cannot recall anyone on the forum having a coil pack go, unlike waffs Cayenne that likes to eat them up occasionally. Doubt Audi would even bother now they are 7-8 years old.

It is only now that they are replacement them. Now most people have already changed them out of their own pocket, of course. Many cars of the age of the RS6 are affected.

The work is not a "recall" where Audi send you a letter in connection with the work but instead a dealer service dept. initiative where if the car in their service bay has the older part numbers on the coil packs then they can fit the newer version free. As it happened when I had them check my car it already had the newer parts on, and I've not changed them in the last 3 years, so at some point this work has already been done to my car.
Worth getting your dealer to check your car with the Audi database or at the very least take the clip on plug off the coil pack and read the part no and the local dealer should be able to tell you if the new parts are needed.

That makes sense - we've had an S4 in with all 8 replaced in the last week too.

Does anyone know if this is across the entire VAG estate, or 'just' Audi?
(Ironically, had another one fail on our Leon Cupra a few days back, but had to get it changed out via breakdown recovery to get the car mobile again - the old one just got binned at the time).

My engine management light flashed on and turned off the other day. I've read a thread here that it may well be the coil packs.
Is it worth getting Audi to check if it's been changed to the newer ones? If it hasn't, do they sort this for free?
I know my mates A8 had a recall where they did.

Vagcom will tell you if it's coilpack. You should get one - they pay for themselves very quickly.
Audi will be able to tell you if your car is implicated in the 'recall'. If it is then they can determine which cOil packs need replacing from the part number.

Cool, will give Audi a bell on Monday.
Re the
Vagcom.
I've just googled it, where can I get one from? eBay item num 200638058748? Will all work with the RS6?
Also, are they any good, I had a similar diagnostic tool for my e36 and it was like a lottery

completey random!
Cheers for the help.

The genuine cable works very well. The cheapo ones off eBay are hit and miss at best.
Got mine from ilexa.co.uk. Recommend.
