Laughable insurance quote

Post by Coxall8395 » Fri Jan 28, 2011 12:33 am

Just been doing the usual go compare type insurance quote.

Im 40, solicitor with one SP30 and 3 years no claims. Wife as main driver.

You Chose insurance quoted a massive £9599.22 (but you did get a free £100 holiday voucher!!!)

On a happier note £654 from Admiral including legal cover (any point?) and with the remap declared.

Can anyone genuinely beat £9599.22? (don't forget the .22)

I got quoted £9599.23 :bigblink:
Silly quotes are just their way of saying that they don't want insure you. Anyone else, when insurance shopping, put the next street in for the home address so to tread the water but not get post spammed by the insurer?

I got asked to pay the whole value of the car to insure it, I said go <beep> yourself. First year I paid over 1200 notes. This year I received a 700 quid hike on that because I moved a couple of streets up in the same area.
Cnutz.

If you go with Admiral, be prepared for them to call you about a week later doing some upselling. They asked me to buy a further insurance so they can provide me with a rental if my car was off the road after an accident. Got the usual statement of it will be an equivalent to your current vehicle, like that'll happen with an RS6. I was quoted £29 and said no thanks to that and was promptly offered 25% discount to which I still said no thanks.

I just declared another 3pts and my insurer added £800 to my premium .... Considering selling the car now as that's just prohibitive

Bloody hell! Not your first three by the sounds of it though? Feared the call to the insurers last year for that reason, but there was no charge mid-term for the first three.

Bloody hell, is your car currently parked in Albania?
I am 32, no points, 12 years ncb, 2nd car used for business and car left on road at night (not a nice road). Best quote £420 worst £2500, currently with admiral and pay about £700 for both (other car is Saab turbo convert).
Almost £10k is amazing (and a bit worrying for when mine falls due)

Edit

Sorry just read that post and sounded a bit smug - trust me the £8k I have spent on getting the car straight since I bought in last August has outweighed any benefit!

They are the only 3 points 'live' on my license

I had 6 points from 3.5 yrs ago

I won't be renewing with them that's for sure

Sounds like the insurer still quotes that as nine points then?

Usually, they ask if you had anything in the last 5 years...
