0-60 time

i measured today a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds, is that normal for a RS6 avant.
Maybe if i do it multiple times it will go faster...
And the time which is in the RS6 specs is ofcourse with the most optimal circumstances and the best possible fuel perhaps...
And the accuracy of my timing can also different a couple od tenths of a second, because when do you exactly reach the 60.. thats difficult to measure witch such a quick accelaration...

Hmmm, are you doing this one-handed whilst holding a stopwatch?

How did you measure it? A stopwatch and speedo is not going to be very accurate...

Never done it, i've seen figures on paper but what should it be, in real life that is?

yes, one hand a stopwatch, other hand the steering wheel.
ESP off, dont know if that helps getting quicker to 60...
Its a bit scary though going full throttle with one hand on the steering wheel...

One-handed and esp O F F ???
. . . and for your final trick you're now going to admit the road was damp, greasy . . . oh, and is your DRC suspect too?

I thought everyone drove with one hand and a stopwatch.

no the road was clean and free of other cars too....
Next time without hands, then esp on.... no just kidding...
I always forget to cool down the turbos after a quick ride by letting the engine run for eg 2 minutes on my driveway..
Or isnt that neccesary?

Use the vagcom to test your 0-60. It has a special feature exactly for that. I can't get 4.9 out of mine. Best I ever managed was about 5.3.

Interesting! Is it easy to find, or tucked away in some obscure menu?

closest i can get too 0-60 official time is 0-88 in 8.36 seconds, so i'd guess that's a 0-60 in 5's
Looking at doing a few speed events this year (vmax, 0-60)

I think it's in the applications button from the main screen, but it's not hidden by any means.
I've tried stopwatches, filming the speedo, vagcom and I have a gtech RR. The only method that gives consistent timing is the vagcom method. It'll do XX to YY speeds as well which is quite interezzsting.
Of course, you could always log the vehicle speed in advanced measuring blocks (using turbo mode to get better resolution).
Mavada, try to look after your turbos - they are expensive to replace. There is an engine off circulation pump that will keep coolant flowing through the turbos after you turn off (V51? can't remember offhand) but they can and do fail (silently) so it's best to let the turbos cool down before switching off. I don't like to turn my engine off before the oil temp comes back down to about 90°.

I find the mooch method is quite good.....
