Agreed as above. These cars really cant get to 600 bhp. If they are genuninely that powerful then the gearbox will go first. Warranty on gearbox transferable to you? Done properly? Still not cheap. If the box goes then total car price is about 16 to 17k. Looks a bit nasty and not cheap enough for that.

Wait for a forum car as you can search for the car on the forum and find out that the forum owner generally spends his cash looking after the car that you are buying. Good peace of mind.

Good luck in your search.

Will you get a warranty on the car? Not always.

Oh and if it is still on DRC then add £1500 to £2000 to get rid of that as it is bound to be on the way at some point and most warranty companies wont pay for it at that miles.

Hope this all helps......

Best word of advice.... RS6 and "on a budget" should never EVER be uttered in the same breath or even in the same millennia.......

Points to guide you.
1. RS6 with a decent map (Viper, unit 20, MRC), intercoolers, full catless,100c Dp's, air filters... absolute maximum 550hp.... and that is a very very maximum realistically 510-530hp.
2. map and cat back... again decent 500 tops.
If its on DRC it will fail
3. Gearbox... not all go.
4. My feul bill last year for 40k miles. £12k.
5. everything cost "£1k" or more to repair/replace or fix.
6. start timkering and kiss goodbye to £10k.
7. buy cheap suffer later.
8. buy a non res milltek.
9. if you buy a res milltek you are a girl.

Lots of love Mooch :D

I''m aware the runnig costs are high but i'll be ok with that.

I've just given myself a personal budget for my next car. I could spend more but i have other commitments too so don't want to spend much more. I can't justify spending £15k on the next car as I know i'll spnd more getting it how i like. I spend a lot on modifying cars (my last few cars have seen a lot of money thrown at them). However with this i'd only be looking to do a few mods so i'll have a lot more available to maintain/run it. I'm sure i'll be ok on that side.

Coilovers, brakes and exhaust is pretty much all an RS6 needs imo. Then drive it and do the odd trackday :)

Looking at that car made me feel a little ill!
As a relative newbie myself I wish I had joined this forum before I bought mine, don't get me wrong I love my car but by 2011 it will have had nearly £8k spend on getting it right (no mods).
By a loved and sorted car from a member rather than a cat D or cheapie, much better in the long run!

Ps whoever fitted those seat inserts is a different type of "member"
