Selling the RS6 need an idea of prices

Post by GaryB » Sat Nov 13, 2010 2:38 pm

I have owned my RS6 now for 3 years and have had the best motoring ever. Unfortunately I have now have to sell due to work commitments and am looking for an idea of what I should sell for.

Brief description: 2003 (52) Avant Misano red 91,000 miles. Carbon interior including half leather carbon seats. Usual refinements associated with this vehicle and no mods apart from KW3 shocks and coilovers,
Within the last month it has had a rebuilt gearbox, and due to an oversight by the mechanic (he left a cloth rag in an air intake), 2 brand new turbos / a new oil cooler, and while the engine was out I got them to change the cambelt and waterpump. I have also fitted new tyres and had the car MOT'd.
The work undertaken in the past month has amounted to just shy of £12,500.
Fortunately my portion was only a third of that.

What do you think guys?

Did you get the work done at an Audi Dealer and therefore it carries warranty on new box etc?

If so, I'd make that a USP and look to acheive £14.5-15k for a swift sale.

If so, IThe gearbox work was done by an Audi Approved and carries a 12 month warranty, as does the turbos and oil cooler.

Any Audi work should be 24 months warranty, ne?

I agree, rven with the work you would find it difficult to get more than this unless you have a noob buyer that doesnt care about high milage..

Personally if i was new to the market.. I would be thinking i might do 12-25k miles in 2 years of ownership.. If i brought yours that would mean 110k when i come to sell it... I wouldnt be happy about buying one of these with 100k plus milage unless i new i was keeping it for good

110k on these cars are nothing though right. the engines can go for much longer.. with the work carried out recently, there should be no major problems to speak of.. with a warranty in place and guarantees for the work carried out (if it was with Audi), being a noobie to the scene, i would see it as a steal..

Books at 10 so i would pitch it at around 12-13 if you want to move it on.
Or you could follow the advice of others and stick it on for 25k...;)

Thanks for that guys, looks like I'll try £15k as it could do with discs and pads in another 3-5k. I think it will go as it is a real head turner and I'm not in a great hurry to sell, so will not take the first offer.

With regards test driving what do you suggest about letting potentials drive - insurance cover et al!

With regards the warranty for the work, it wasn't AUDI themselves (why would I pay twice the price and have to do the work twice - although that one came back and bit me), it was an Audi approved 'Central VW and Audi' in Brum. The repair (turbos etc) was done by VRS in Northampton and I've got to say they are brilliant and very thorough.

Also does anyone know the proper description for the carbon interior, half leather and carbon effect seats??

Hi Gary

On insurance I'd insist they either bring documentation to prove they are insured to drive your car, or I'd suggest they get cover from Dayinsure.com. Otherwise, you drive.

The interior is referred to as Hi-tech (plus carbon trim)

Best cplour and trim combo IMHO - but then I would say that!

Dave
