Quick fuel Q

Hi
once you put 95ron fuel in the 6 then the power drops, anyone know what it drops to?
Also when you refill with 97:98;99ron does the car automatically increase it's power output or does it a resett like my old Subaru did?
Does anyone get better mpg from using higher octane fuel?
Thanks in advance

I run mine on Tesco 99 and get about 350 - 400 out of a tank driving to work down the M4 to London. Anything else and it drops to around the 300 mark.

When you put the 95 in, the engine starts to pink, so the ECU pulls the ignition timing to try and save your engine from damage. The actual effect this has on BHP is dependant on lots of other factors like the quality of your plugs, the precision of the mixture, etc. No one can say for sure.
But FWIW, when you know how the ECU struggles to protect your engine on 95 RON, it's not worth it.

page 216/217 of the owners manual goes into quite bit of detail about additives and cautions about the use of low octane fuels.
100,99,98,97,95 all OK
Below 95 perhaps not
It even suggests using "genuine VW/Audi fuel additives for petrol cars"
Me I stick to TESCO's MOMENTUM @ 99 RON

In my manual it says not to use 95 except in emergency and not to use full throttle.

It's a no brainer. These cars are not supposed to run on 95 octane fuel. 97 or greater. 95 in an emergency and don't use full throttle.
