Market forces....
I'm very disappointed with the level of response for my adds on here/pistonheads and autotrader. I'm looking on ebay and seeing cars at 'book prices' that you just know need shed loads done to them but the unsuspecting poor sod who buys them and yet ones that have had decent money spent on them to keep them in good nick are being priced out of the market.. Very annoying to say the least.
Mines up for 14,250 and I think thats priced to sell considering its got h&r coilovers, had gearbox oil change/lots of maintenance work done to it coming to 6k in the last year.
Any thoughts from experienced six owners welcomed...

RE: Market forces....
Tell me about it, I've ploughed 6k into her in the last 12 months which (with a little arm twisting from my wife) is why she's got to go. The other reason is that my wife is about to sit her driving test and we need to get two smaller (more affordable) cars. Besides which, that 6k could have bought my wife a very decent new(ish) golf or something..
Why the awful prices on pistonheads and ebay though? I mean REALLY low prices. Surely, logic would tell a prospective buyer that there is a reason that a car is at rock bottom prices ie the backdoors are about to fall out (metaphorically speaking... all that glitters n all that..

RE: Market forces....
If you can I'd wait till April next year.
I think part of the problem is owners who have had their RS6 for a long period of time and have no longer have any finance outstanding. They are in a position to price to sell quickly as they have no risk of negative equity. Cars that are priced to sell unfortunately drag the market down as potential buyers will not take this into consideration when comparing what's on offer that particular day of research.
As I and others have said before, you just have to be patient and wait for the right buyer and money to come along. It does take a while but theres always someone looking for the right car at YOUR price.
Good luck!

Hold out for a buyer mate. Ive had 6 or 7 more calls since mine sold on saturday so there are people looking. Get some good pics up. Everyone likes 'arty' pictures and the extra effort does pay off as it makes the car look special. Make sure you get plenty of detailed info down too. Dont drop your price because the market dictates. The forum members here are as responsible for the market as the regular Joe. Its just a shame 'book' gets used so much on here.

chip on shoulder
RE: Market forces....
No chip. Just think its a bit out of order when people come into a 'for sale' or 'thinking of selling' topic with: 'Your price is to high because book price is £X'! At the end of the day people will pay over the odds for a car thats been looked after correctly and has an outstanding history. Yes there are plenty of upper class chavs who will spunk £10k on a dog because its only £10k, but there are a good portion of buyers willing to outbid another buyer because he likes what he sees. Ive had half a dozen people offering more than what ive advertised it for. When looking at these cars, its the car that dictates, not the market. But only if you plan your sale that way.

Re: RE: Market forces....
What did you sell yours for in the end? (if you don't mind me asking) and (looking at my thread on here) RS6 Avant (52) do you think mine is priced to sell reasonably? I've had several people say its a very fair price considering mileage and condition but unfortunately they were friends opinions and not re enquiries?ecain63 wrote:Hold out for a buyer mate. thats the thing, I could easily have not had 3 grand of work done on the car 10 days ago and hav just slammed it into 'trade. Then two weeks later some poor sod buys it thinking "great!! cheap RS6 I got a deal" and bang they get it health checked and realise whats wrong with it. No, I get it fixed and make sure I'm selling a decent car for a decent price but it bites me in the @ss.....
RE: Market forces....
Only dropped it by £1500. Was at £16500 when it originally sold, then went for £14999 for a quick sale.

RE: Market forces....
Ed, sorry mate- My mistake... thought the first time you put it up it was up for more......
Whitey... TBH 3K worth of work means very little in the market. Your car is nice, got coilys etc.... but my car which had a tad more than coilys and had had £20K spent on it in 12 months, only made 14K nad i dropped it because it needed £1200 worth of work doing to it- where some <beep> hit it in a car park. It was up for 17K, it was not as immaculate as eddies, but it wasn't bad, just needed a polish. Not a single bit of interest in it at 17...and that was for a forum legend! About as much as you can go without big turbo's. New everything. every upgrade available barring Bo's and manual box. Spotless interior. Full service history and AUDI warranty.........
i needed the money to start my new business venture, otherwise I would still have her... or still be trying to sell her at £20k. time and budget mate will ultimately dictate the wedge you get for your car. Do you need the money? are you in a hurry? No? stick it on at £16K come down a grand and good oh... but it will take time......
So...... unfair market???
