Fan on when off

Last 2 days fan has been running after it has been switched off
Temp Gauge on 90
Just checked VAGCOM no faults coming up
Coolant temp going up to 107 degrees but gauge showing 90
Think I will try a coolant temp sensor first and let you know
fingers crossed the thermostate is OK, heater working all OK and gauge stays on 90 the whole time

Yeah sounds like a termo/time type switch

More likely to be the thermostat, I fear. 107 is quite hot for the coolant. Still, doesn't hurt to change the sender first. Will at least eliminate it.

I changed the coolant temp sensor first , but it turned out to be the thermostat.

Apart from the 107 degrees no signs of overheating or anything else, needle smack bang in the middle.
Heater works coolant level spot on everything feels warm under the bonnet
I'll try the coolant temp sender tomorrow and see if that changes
Also run VAGCOM on my drive in and see what the temp reads
Measure value blocks Read the same in the cluster
Fingers crossed it's not the thermo, will have to ring Warranty Direct again

I'm curious about this - could you clarify what you mean by the fan running when it's off? If you mean you turn off the engine and remove the key and the fan still keeps running, mine does this as well... I thought it was normal, but once more I am beginning to feel the trousers turning brown...

the fan will run on until the engine is cooled down , regardless of key in ignition

You switch off,get out and lock.As you walk away you can hear the fan still
running. This is supposed to happen and is normal.Fan should go off within a
short time.If the fan takes more than a couple of minutes to switch off then
you might have problems, normally thermostat related.Check under the
bonnet,overheating coolant etc.

Cool - it goes off after a few minutes, just like every other car I've had, so thought it was ok. Never hurts to double check though... I'll call the launderette and tell them it's safe to return my pants now.

Hope I'm wrong but very likely to be thermostat.

The fan seemed to be on full stage after a short journey
Did it Thurs, Fri and over the weekend and then this morning
Got home tonight and nothing
Just never noticed the fan so loud when I get out the car, new fan been fitted July
Thermostate done 3 weeks ago with Cambelt
Going to monitor, but was driving me mad
