I just bought this............

Post by Carlson » Fri Oct 01, 2010 11:50 pm

Hey Guys,

I'm new.I have been driving Subaru's since 1998.I chose them because of their reputation for being bullet proof and the main dealers having excellent customer service............I was never, ever let down.

Now,its time for pastures new and a completely different animal.
Talk of DRC,gearboxes, warning lights and perhaps the main dealers with the worst reputation in the whole of the UK.......YES! I have decided to join you and have just bought an RS6.

Here is my new car- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2011068.htm

It has 12 months warranty (which will help if/when the DRC fails) and seems clean and tidy with 1 owner.

Probably about 2 grand too expensive but comes from a decent dealer.

What do you guys think?

My first upgrade will be to fit a Kenwood/Garmin Sat-Nav.Any advice??

Welcome aboard! Lovely car, I'm sure it'll put a suitably big grin on your face!

Perhaps a bit steep pricewise, like you say, but then I paid £14k for my saloon then had to spend a stuffing fortune getting all the usual susepcts put right, so when looked at in that way, provided you've got a good one/the warranty is up to snuff, you're doing well!

Not sure about sat nav etc, but I'm also interested in doing mine, so will be good to hear what others have to say.

What do you make of it so far?

If that car hadn't been sold by fontain i might have been interested. Hope they treat you well and the car is a cracker.
Thats mega money for a standard car but you have a great base to start from and you can make it your own.
Just be careful with their warranty!!

Good luck and hope you enjoy it. I'm still waiting and hunting

Holy cow batman, that's a big figure. You could have had mine for £16.5k. Higher mileage but all the work your gonna spend money on has already been carried out, inc the satnav. And I bet mines in better nick.

But anyway. Welcome to the club. Its miles of smiles from here on so long as you treat your car like a princess. There will be highs, there will be lows, but you'll never drive a better car.

As per our other posts, you just need one person looking to pay the money.

I too paid £19+ for my 2003 Avant as I felt that was what it was worth.

Why is everyone talking down prices!?!

Welcome onboard!

Hello Carlson nice looking 6 mate. The 12 months Warranty could be worth it's weight in gold and as you say they are a decent dealer. You get what you pay for.

Many greetings to you Carlson, and welcome to the fraternity.

My first was Daytona with the black optics.. great stealth combo.
My first upgrade will be to fit a Kenwood/Garmin Sat-Nav.Any advice??
I have had the RNSD, RNSE is in my 6 and have the ALPINE IVA-W505R in my A4. I like the RNSE in the 6 just due to it all looking factory, but the one limitation (to my knowledge) is that Audi never made an RNSE for the A6 with a multimedia function, and so if you want iPod control or other inputs, you need to use the CD/TV function as a slave. Not a biggy, but can be annoying to make my Kufatec and NavTV work in harmony. If you're not bothered about the OE look and want function, the Alpine with Nav, bluetooth phone, iPod, DVD etc works very well as one sole unit.

nice one, Carlson.
that's probably the best colour combination (in my opinion - I always have a soft spot for daytona).
and don't worry at all about the money - any small overpayment could easily be repaid on the first warranty work - all it takes is a sensor problem, or alternator, or oil cooler, or DRC, or gearbox and you'll have "saved" thousands....

To save any possible future agro, I would get on the blower to Fontain and ask them to confirm in writing (assuming you haven't already) exactly what the warranty covers. I would be quite specific with them also detailing DRC, Gearbox, Intercoolers, alternator, water pump & rocker cover gaskets etc.

If they refuse then say that you feel the warranty product sold along with the car is not what you thought and threaten to return the car.

Just to be safe mate. I have been stung a few times by main dealer BMW & Lexus so I am extra paranoid now. After all its a chunk of change you've just parted with!

When i asked the guy face to face what the warranty covered he went white!! They use a company i've never heard of and he was kind of saying that all the rs6 faults are wear and tear, so basically nothing is covered.
Hope this is wrong if you do have any problems.
