Thinking of buying in - what's my checklist?

Folks - I've lusted after an Audi RS6 for a long time. You read up anything and have to accept that they give pleasure and pain!

I fall into the category of buyer who is looking to pay £15-20,000 as the lump sum is a bit big otherwise (means looking at 03-04 models with 50-70k), but I have the income to handle bills and servicing.

Rather than make a tool of myself and buy a conker, could one of the many pro's do me a quick list of what should have been done/failed by now on this vintage of RS6 so I can spot a well maintained one vs one full of surprises.

Hopefully your help will mean I can keep the rep of these awesome cars intact.

Thanks in advance for your help. :D

Have a look for the stickies at the top of the C5 RS6 forum. Read carefully, twice, then ask your questions.

I may be selling mine soon, as I rarely get to drive her these days. 46k miles, Daytona saloon with H&R suspension and new 'Plus' (drilled) brakes and pads. ;)

Thanks for the pointers - I've never bothered with forums before so didn't know what a sticky was! Looked at the guide on there and it's a big thank you to Ross

Any thoughts on whether a respray is an issue? If you buy red and want black/silver any value problems?

Cheers

Changing colour... get a wrap. Cheaper, easier and reversable.

a full wrap is the best answer as bam bam said,I am considering going for a white wrap when i get my RS6 :)

Going white, consider blacking out all the chrome/Alu parts while you're at it.

Thought about wrapping mine white too. The only way to go is to include black optiics and titan rims. Would look sweet!

Noo Eddie you have the best colour for an RS6,I would only consider wrapping white if it was something other than Daytona, just as a winter coat sort of thing :)

Like I said, I thought about it. Mine is staying just the way it is. Oh, I'm testing a C6 tomorrow ;-)

True. Audi phoned me today and asked if I fancied having it for afew hours. The answer was obvious. Not the right colour though, its that funny light blue/silver. Bit old man for me but worth a look to pass a few hours.
