Hi Guys,
new here... im buying an 2003 - 2005 RS6 avant in the next couple of weeks, really worried about the purchase if im being honest...
Heard some horror stories about drc etc...
My plan is to get a low mileage immaculate example with rock solid audi service history..
can someone tell me and speak from their own experience and let me know what they are like to live with day to day?
Also an idea of service internals and what needs to be done at each bracket, whos the best todo this to keep the value of the car?
does the cam belt need changing at 41k?
thanks guys any help really appreciated
Tha

As DK has mentioned read the stickys or you will suffer the wrath of the Mooooooooooch!
Seriously tho there's a wealth of information on here about these beasts, just take a couple of hours out and use the search function.
And if possible try and buy one that's either been owned by someone on here or at least had the daft DRC replaced with coilovers.

Service book says cambelt every 40K. I read somewhere that the new cambelts etc last 60K but I personally would air on the side of caution and get it done every 40K.

And only buy if you can stomach the running costs..... you need deep pockets how ever well maintained etc it has been. It started life as a £60K supercar, and still has the mainenance (and fuel) costs that go with the tag
Enjoy!

the only way i can get away with it is to tell the mrs its a sensible family estate!
I spoke to one chap and they said there last service bill from Audi was 2k, cant say im looking forward to the servicing cost as i have always liked getting under the bonnet on my 540i.
fuel wise i plan to LPG convert onto legendary BRC lpg system, still have a friend that owns a conversion company and should get a system at cost hopefully

If your going to put something like that into an opening post, to me that say's you're not ready for the car.
I bought mine in January, full Audi SH on 74k miles. So far I've spent £1500 on a cambealt change. £800 @ Audi for a standard service. £800 on four new tyres and i have no idea on the amount of fuel I've used.

This subject has been talked about a number of times and it alway returns to, if you're trying to save money on running the car you really shouldn't be looking at an RS6.
Not trying to put you off, just want you to think about what your looking at.

its not so much the fact of trying to save money, but of course i hate giving 2 thirds of my money to the government in fuel tax its really not on, its a complete waste of resource and just making someone else that little bit richer!
I can buy LPG at around 35p per litre with the right contacts, we have converted many high end cars in the past s600 bi turbos on the brc system they work very well indeed. yes the fuel economy does drop on lpg but because i can get it for such a good price it makes total sense of me... going back to the point i made earlier if you were having a system like this installed and it cost 3.5K chances on you would have to weight up if it was worth doing but when i can get all the parts i needed fitted with a high end system for 1200 quid it makes sense.
costs wise yes i know this baby is going to cost me but i have been pondering the idea now for 10 months and now its time to seize one.
Im going to get one with full audi service history and around 40K would be perfect.. how many miles have yours got on the it?
I maybe still interested in a C6, just cant decided yet. Insurance was surprisingly reasonable, 26 yr old 7 yrs ncb £950

its only 300 more to insure than my 540i!

if your 26 and considering a C6 , then the cost of the c5 is not material
