Yet another oil question

I can't work this out. The manual says 505.01 spec oil which as far as I can tell is a special PD oil.
Audi last time put 507.00 in my car which is a longlife oil (for diesels). It's also 5w30 which I think is a bit thin for the RS6.
Luckily my 6 doesn't use any oil, but I feel stupid not knowing what oil to buy.
I've heard Synta Gold, but that's not even 505.01 spec.
Any one got any proper info?

You want to make sure it is 505.01 spec.
I just ordered Amsoil for a change instead of the the factory oil. My dealer tried to sell me some new stuff since the Castrol TXT has been discontinued, and passing it off as " what they have always used"....

Yeah, the problem is that all the 505.01 spec I can find is for diesel engines. 507.00 supercedes 505.01 in theory, but that's still a diesel oil.
I guess if it says 505.01 on the can it should be OK? Even if it says it's for diesel engines?

I got my 505.01 from the dealer Quantium Platinum or something like that, Castrol re badged for £24.

All 505.01 spec oil is for diesel, happens to work in gas engines too. Audi's has always used the same 505.01 spec oil in the RS6 and in TDI's.

I think Grizz used to use Synta Gold but that may have been replaced but the Platinum. That is VW 502.00 VW 505.00 VW 505.01
