quest for the perfect car

Post by s4bandit » Wed May 12, 2010 11:17 pm

hi guys

how many of you have tried all of the high spec audi's, bmw's etc... in the quest for the perfect car only to reach the rs6 and decide that it is the one !

so far i have had an mrc tuned b5 s4, a b6 s4 and an e46 m3 before purchasing
and rs6 and so far the rs6 is deffo the best, its awesome !

so good in fact that im not sure what to replace it with, is it possible the quest is to end here ??

has anyone managed to move on from an rs6 to something that they thought was better ? what could it be ?

what do you think you will try next that could better them both ? did you ever try a b5 rs4 ? i recon that might be a good choice if you dont mind the styling being a bit dated compared to what you've got now

I've had my Rs6 4 years now with no plans to change. It's the longest I have had any car by far!

Had mine 3 1/2 years and done 75K miles since I bought it - wouldn't change for the world!

Been used as everything from Wedding car to builders van - and never missed a beat. Only thing I managed in my V70R which I had previously that I haven't (yet) done in the beast, is to use it as a hearse - but then it is Misano!

Same sentiments here. RS2, RS4 Avant and now an RS6 Plus, 100K miles from new. No idea what I would replace it with. It's not perfect, what is? but it's the smile factor I guess.
What ever you drive today, motoring is expensive.......at least we all enjoy it!

Six and a half years old now (the car that is) and 45k miles from new - still nothing I'd want to replace it with. BTW still with DRC and one original shock on the car. Is this a record?

Heading to 3 years with mine. Had a deposit down on an RS5 as I don't need the space and thought it was gonna have a 4.2 V8 TT.

In the end just couldn't justify the difference and so gonna wait a few more years.

It hasn't been my everyday car for the last year (got a Scirocco 2.0 TFSI) and it seems strange having a big Avant as my weekend / special day car but when I jump back in I smile everytime.

Getting a Blueflame exhaust fitted soon so can't wait to hear that.

I'd be interested to see how you get on with the Blueflame. It's something that's fairly high on my list of priorities, but a wedding comes first!!

Taken a video beforehand just on my iphone but will video the new exhaust in better quality when I get it changed.

Hopefully it might get done before the end of the month as I have a nice day planned on the 28th May with 49 other cars going from Belfast to Dublin http://www.paddyrally.com

Cool - thanks for making me aware of this event - maybe next year...

Cars - Whilst I absolutely love the RS6 and being a relatively new owner the noise and grunt is amazing, but I still really really miss my beloved Honda Accord Type-R (huge groans from everyone!) - it was simply awesome - nowhere near the power of the Avant, but double the grins on country roads. Had it 10 years and it was as reliable as a brick. Not a car to replace the Audi, but in addition to, so definitely in my top 10 garage. Darn my wife for making me sell it

I've had my 2003 RS6 from new & have only covered 41,000 miles. It was the 4th Audi in a row that I had bought.

Whilst I've got a couple of other fun machines, I thought I had found the perfect replacement for my RS6 driving as I wanted to keep the C5 with ultra low mileage and care.

I'll get 'shot down' by other 'rs246' enthusiasts for saying this, but I bought a new RS6 V10 in March 2009. After 6 months driving I realised the C5 was more 'connected', more comfortable and altogether more enjoyable. Thank heavens I'd not part exchanged the C5 .. it's for 'keeps'.

Will probably add a new Cayenne Turbo, Range Rover Sport 5.0 or E 63 Merc this year, so that I can keep the C5 in pristine condition.
