Hi all

I'm a proud new RS6 '03 owner.
I'm absolutely impressed by RS's perfomances; indeed, driving it bring me a lot of memories about the power of my old Suzuki GSX1100R

Well, let's go to see some photos:

Hope you have an easier time having it maintained in Spain than Johninspain has had with his RS4. None of the Audi garages had seen one before and didn't know what to do with it.

Hi all

Thank you very much for your kind replies

I bought the car three weeks ago; I was advised for carefully inspecting shocks and DRC central valves. I didn't see any fluid leak on them and neither any "clunk" or strange sound from car suspension, so that it seems that DRC is OK.
However, I'm ready for changing to Bilstein system when DRC fails.

I'm concerned about car's maintenance because, as you write, there is not a lot of good garages with a great knowledge about this model. I'm not worried about minor maintenance (oil, brakes, filters,...): I'll do it.

My main concern is about timing belt. For my RS6, Elsawin states that it must be change at 90.000 Kms/4 years; although the car only has half of those Kms, it is 7 years old and timing belt has not been changed yet (however, I'm not a big time-related maintenance period admirer on well-cared cars, even more taking into account maintenance operations inherent risks, as an old engineering proverb states: no touching, no manipulating, no problem :D )
I'm still thinking about changing timing belt myself at home; it's a complicated and time-consuming task, but I would sleep quietly if I was absolutely sure about maintenance procedures exact fulfillment (like many of yours, I have a lot of horror stories about procedures fails and breakdowns in both, officials and no-official, garages) and, of course, some euros saving

The timing belt change period is now 60000km or 40000 miles. It changed, presumably after some failures.

I know what you mean about wanting to do it yourself;.. it's the only way to be sure. There's an article here:

Hi Shoppinit
Thanks for your comments

I think that there is a little confusion about RS6's timing belt changing period. Elsawin (2009 edition) states that it must be done at 90.000 Km (57.000 miles) or 4 years. However, the firts Audi maintenance schedule was 60.000 Km (35.000 miles), without any time limits.

I found on the web (sorry, I don't remember where) an well documented explanation because Audi changed the RS6's maintenance schedule in 2004 or 2005, increasing milleage from 35.000 to 60.000 and introducing the 4 years limit.

That's the complete opposite to everything I've ever heard about the timing belt. Does anyone have a TSB or something to confirm?
