Warped front discs.....covered by audi warranty??

Hi,

I have only had my beast for a few months now but noticed within the first week that there was a vibration coming through the steering wheel under braking. Feels like the front discs are wrapped. I have a receipt in the folder that came with the car confirming that the discs and pads were replaced only 8k mile ago.

Having looked at my Audi named component warranty booklet it states that the discs are covered.

Does this mean that Audi will replace my discs under warranty??

Can't answer your question on the warranty but had my fronts replaced about 10k back and after 3k i had an annoying vibration coming through the steering wheel under light and hard braking, then had the rears replaced and the vibration went!!!!

I'll have £1 on it being your rears....not the fronts.

I am sure someone will be here in a minute to give a proper answer..... HTH

Hi
I got through at least 6 sets of front disks as they kept warping until I changed them to drilled disks. One of the problems that puts them out is if you have kerbed your wheels. I had the wheels refurbished t Lepsoms and then had the brake discs changed and pergfect motoring. Its worth the extra cost

Will Audi replace the discs under warranty for the proper drilled items? Were drilled standard fit from the factory?

Drilled were std on the Plus model.

If your car wasn't fitted with them, I very much doubt Audi will change for drilled items. Plus they're more expensive!

Ok will Audi replace my discs with non-drilled items then?

I got Audi to replace 3 of the 6 sets under warranty. Audi tried to suggest it was my driving style and that I had tracked the car. The even gave me a technical instruction list that came with the RS4 that said I had to drive to 1000kph then brake to 50kph the run the discs in.The final set of discs were finally the drilled ones and I only paid the difference . You really have to get tough with Audi and dont take 'NO' for an answer. Go to Camberely Audi they were brilliant at working on the Audi warranty people

Sorry but I very much doubt that you'd get an 8k set of discs changed under warranty; as it is not uncommon for the discs to last circa 10k miles as their life expectancy, so 8k aint too bad. the XD discs certainly did last longer. Don't forget that the 450bhp beast weighs 2 tons, thats some forces at play there!!

To check if its the rears, whilst driving along, keep your thumb on the handbrake button and pull the handbrake on slightly until you feel it biting and if all feels smooth, your rears are fine; if they're warped then you'll feel the vibe it in the handbrake.

Will try the rear disc check later failing that will try a warranty claim for the fronts
