Had an odd problem this morning. The car was parked outside over night last night and had a frost covering. When I opened the front passengers door and closed it again the door just bounced open. As if the lock wasn't engaging. I tried the latch using a screw driver to put it into the locked position, it took a couple attempts for it to engage. Although when closing the door again it still wouldn't engage and lock. After about 5 minutes of the engine running making the car nice and warm the lock worked fine. No problems when I got work and parked up. Anyone else had this before?

mine did that this morning. I always clear the frost from the windows with hot (from the tap not from the kettle) water. I just poured more hot water directly on the handle and the lock mechanism and it warmed it sufficiently to allow it to lock properly.

I don't like the idea of pouring warm water onto the door handles every time it's a little cold over night. There must be a beter fix around then that. So is this a common problem on all Audi's? I would expect better for a car costing £60k new.

I had the same problem the other morning on the driver side door so now I open the passenger side door its more sheltered and doesn`t seem to get frosted the same and start the car with heater going for 5 min untill defrosted and then open the drivers door.

The locks are quite notorious for water ingress, and then they do get weak, so just bear that in mind too.

A little WD 40 repels the water and works fine for me. I think with remote locking we all forget to attend to things like that accasionally as a preventive measure.

My passenger front did the same during the cold snap last week. Hasnt doen it since though.

Had to do the same this morning. Same door cauing the problem too. Will give it a spray with WD later see if that stop it 'sticking'

Happened to my drivers side door. Remote managed to open the door locks, but handle wouldnt open the door. Gave the door a couple of hard bangs and that worked for me.

So WD40 sprayed into the door lock ... is this the preventative solution?

I just thought that as it is a water repellent it 'should' help stop moisture from collecting on the dock lock mechanism and freezing. I doubt it will stop it altogether but might just be enough to make it free up easier.
