Sat nav in DIS

Post by JonW » Thu Jan 07, 2010 11:23 am

Can anyone suggest why the sat nav info will not display in the DIS on my Plus?

Thanks,
Jon

Your TCM/Canbus module may be dead. Do your steering wheel buttons work? What about the menu button by the handbrake?

Can you rub your tummy and pat your head at the same time?

have you tried toggling the display. the button at the base of the RH stalk toggles between computer, nav and no-display.
from memory, the default from startup is to display the nav info...

Thanks for the replies.

No buttons on wheel. Menu button works fine.

Yes; will that help?

Not sure which lights you mean?

Yes, just toggles between comp and no-display.

I presume you've actually programmed a destination in?

Is it RNS-D or E?

Is it a retrofit? Can't remember if all plusses had E. Have you got a vagcom?

Have you got the security code for the radio? You could try a reset. You could disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reconnect it. This is recommended for suspected trouble with the TMC/Canbus module.

Standard on plus.

No vagcom.

Will have code somewhere so I will have to root it out and try the reset.

Reset hasn't helped. Any other thoughts or will I have to resort to £s at the stealers?

mine is a plus, and yes RNS-E is std on plus's. mine shows nav on the DIS, even if there is no destination set.

In fact it's a bit of a pain, as have to toggle twice to get fuel data every time from startup....

but sorry - don't know what your fault could be.

What he means is that when you put your lights on, all the buttons on the dash light up red. This should include all the buttons on the RNS-E too, which it does by responding to a message on the canbus. If the canbus is faulty to/from the RNS-E (so that messages don't get to the DIS), then the message to turn the lights on may well not get through too. I guess that's what he's thinking.

I see; yes, all the buttons on the unit and dash come on.
