Vibration through the floor when placing under load

Hi,

Have an RS6 saloon on an 02 plate.

Recently had a drive shaft replaced and gearbox rebuilt after I put the car into Audi for what I can describe is an increasing vibration coming through the floor from 35mph onwards....the faster I go the worse it gets.

You can feel it slightly through the sterring wheel, but very apparent thru the pedal, floor and seat, and in tha order.......and you go faster....

Now, although I had all the above changed, and have previously replaced rea shocks and all DRC valves etc........ it still vibrates, even more so in a left hand bend vs a right hand....

Anyone had any such issues ??

thanks.

sounds like something is out of balance. I take it that as you have had the driveshaft replaced and the gearbox rebuilt you have ruled out the most common cause of vibration, wheel & tire balance?

Another cause that has been known (not specifically to the RS6 though) is the propshaft can become out of balance, but this is rare as the balance weights are normally welded on...

The centre bearing on the prop shaft goes. It is welded on also and therefore not easy to change. Taking it off to check is an easy job, if you can get the thing into the air. Failing that you may be able to undo the centre bearing mounting bolts and check for play. In any case a new shaft is circa £800 + fitting.

Guys, thanks for the replies..... having the wheels re-checked later today but by a different vendor... the car is in Audi dealership next Monday and trying to narrow down the number of potential sources of the fault. Keep the ideas coming folks, please..

thanks...

Steering? Had a similar problem on my old BMW 850Csi and after spending a god damn fortune it turned out to be the steering rack, or steering box in that case and cost me 2k plus fitting

Did they make hard and soft alloys like for the B5 RS4? The soft ones were replaced FOC if they buckled.
