Couple of things.....

Post by alastairm » Mon Oct 19, 2009 9:39 pm

1. Can i replace just the buttons on the climate control panel? Last owner was a woman who has worn the plus and minus out with finger nails!
2. The interior door handle had a kind of 'rubber' coating from the factory and this has partly worn off making the car look old. Does anyone know if this can be repaired or do i have to buy a new part?

Thanks

1. I don't think so. You might be able to buy a broken one cheap and swap the facias...
2. You'd have to replace the whole door skin at a cost of a zillion pounds. Do what I did and pick the black Audi dandruff off.

It's not. You have to replace the whole door skin. Didn't I just say that?

Thats a bit pants, I have the same issue on both my Audi and the wife's Touran. I assumed that I would be able to just replace the handles, however, I have to admit, when I had all four door panels off the other week to change the speakers, I dont remember seeing any screws.

Looks like i'm going to have to pick it off. I know what causes it, its rings, when we got the VW it was fine, now both the drivers and passengers side are flacking. It must be the wife's as I only have one small ring :) - no comments plz....

I can confirm that. $2000 in perth from local audi dealer for "each" new interior door panel!

I am now carefully scraping off the black dandruff.

My + and - fan buttons have also blurred from sweat on my fingers after too much spirited driving!

i have not even bothered to ask the cost for new buttons.

While we're talking about buttons, anyone know if the tiptronic buttons on the 4 spoke wheels can be changed easily?
