Bought car with 2 new bridgstone potenza REO5OA 255/35/ZR 19 new on front and Dunlop sport on rear which will need replacing soon... Question i want to keep the tyres the same make but need to know if the bridgstones are any good they are not cheap tyres at £190 odd each can anyone advise on this pls

Don't know the Bridgestones - but beware the Dunlops as they won't fit on the frony (they rub on the suspension).

Personally have recently switched to Vredestein - really pleased with grip etc - wait and see on wear.

I have had RE050A's on my 2004 car for the last 23000kms and pump them to 2.9 bars. They're quiet, great in the wet and very good in the dry.
They have about 50% of the tread left as I rotate every 10000kms.

Sorry they're 255/40/18's

my experience is that they are superb on the dry

but pretty terrible on the wet

i had these on my S4 round doing 45 laps of snetterton - lasted better than Conti's !!!

It's very conflicting opinions good in dry crap in wet surely Bridgestone designed these tyres to be good for dry and wet i am still confused what to do as i already have 2 on the front which are nearly new and the dunlops on the rear which need replacing, if i go for a different type it's gonna cost say £800 for new set, if i change the rear to the bridgestones same as front its £400 what do i do?

Well I guess, since you asked the question here you must be reasonably happy with the Bridgestones - otherwise you would have already decided to scrap them.

So I'd stick a pair on the back as well and go for it.

As you say, opinion seems to be divided, and it is also a matter of how hard you drive, how much mileage is on the twisty stuff etc. Doesn't look like there is a whole lot of data to go on, so stick with the simple "logical" decision at this stage.

Oh, and I'd put the new ones on the front - they tend to wear slightly more so this will even up over a period of time

Thanks for that dave it does seem the logical thing to do and i will put the new ones on the front i did not think of that one thanks for that.

I'd go with Bridgestones too Bobby, but as Dave mentions, put them on the front to help even up the wear. Don't forget to take it steady for the first few miles!

I had the Bridgestones on my car for 2 years, they dont wear very much and were better than the Rossos I have at the moment. Next set will be the Vederstein - much better value.
