New DRC Audi Bristol cannot set it up properly
New DRC Audi Bristol cannot set it up properly
Had my DRC renewed under good will warranty at Bristol Audi they renewed all shocks and 2 new control valves, picked car up and it was sitting high on the back wheels, didn’t think much of it thought it would settle down because it had new springs, drove it and it was jumping around like a kangaroo when going over manholes, took it back to Audi and I said they must have over pressurised the system it should be 16bar? I think, they took every thing apart and checked all the shock and valve numbers every thing is the right parts, they then pressurised the system again and its still the same, they have told me now that they need to contact Audi the factory in Germany for there technical department to advise, does anyone know what the foook is wrong with the set up, I told them to ring Camberley Audi up but they declined. surely its on a diagonal pressure if the system was over charged then the front should sit high as well, any suggest what there missing?

well the obvious thing they are missing is theDRC is a flawed design to begin with, i boils down to trying make a bad job good, which never works. Try to push them for coil over free of charge. It has been done for others, tho i cant mention any names I know for a fact of 3 people who have had coilovers fitted by Audi for free.

I don't think this is an option with these guys just seems they do not know what they are doing, think its the first new design shockers they have fitted.

Hi - I have just bought a plus which had also had its DRC replaced in the goodwill scheme. Once I got it home the back did appear higher than the front but it is now 8/9 weeks since it was done I have to say its starting to look pretty level front and back with no obvious differences. It still looks like it rides high overall but I think that is because most other 6's you see have been H&R or PS9'd and on the request of owners -Lowered. Good luck with it moving forward.
RE: DRC Audi Bristol cannot set it up properly
just after they renewed every thing i measured the distances front was 23mm and rear was 55mm i know it will settle a bit but 25mm do not think so have to wait now car is still with Audi until they hear from factory in Germany.

Hi John,
Its still in Audi they have given me a new a6 as a run around at the mo i have forced them to tell me what is going on they have told me now that when the mechanic renewed every thing and recharged the system he broke the special charging system tool they use, now they are getting another one from another dealer, great init, if i would not have said anything about the ride height then i would still be driving it around, i should get it back in a few days i will let you know the out come mate,

Oh dear - and from another thread on here it sounds like the charging system is a very expensive tool!!!!
But you are right, they could have said to you that it wasnt pressurised properly and that you would need to bring it back once they had got another tool or had it repaired!!!! I would have been the same and just assumed it was correct. Without this forum and the guys on it we would just have to accept the word of the dealer in question.

Well Bobby, I sincerely hope they get this sorted for you. Sound like a maybe had a lucky escape forcing Colin Ludwells to get me a set of coilovers instead! If they can't fix this for you properly, I read here on another thread that a garage had offered a chap a full coilover setup at their expense, as they couldn't sort his vehicle out at all.
Best of luck
