Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
I know I have read a thread about this before but sorry, I cant seem to find it.
So is this throttle feedback normal when going over bumpy roads? I'm not talking pot holes, I mean simply patchy asphalt. Its a little disconcerting to say the least, and makes me not want to push it too hard.
Could this be suspension? The ONLY thing I have changed is that I've got the alloys refurbed; same tyres have gone on.
Ideas/suggestions?

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
Do you have DRC?
The reason I ask is because maybe the jacking of the car has made the DRC worse? (It did with mine, and took a long time for it to settle down again).
It also happens with aftermarket suspension, so it's normal to some degree.

Probably your tires have more pressure in them this time, so your noticing it more than before.
But it doesnt seem to be anything to worry about.

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
Yes Rupert, I have DRC, but three out of four seem to have a slight oil leak, so theyre prob on their way out. Its OK though as Grizz is gonna H&R me up in a few weeks.
It did sit on axle stands for about a week so thats possible. Its just a really weird sensation, nothign ive experianced n any other car.
Thanks for the link to the other thread Hartge. Glad I'm not the only one. Ditching the DRC is the first thing I wanna do to this car. Why dont Aud understand less is more?!?!!

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
HI.
A few owners seem to get the pedal box vibrating - mine does it. One member told me it was due to body shell flex, and I'm sure Griz told me that it could eventually need the pedal box re built...
Mine does it over certain surfaces, but it doesn't worry me too much.

I suspect that if it had major implications, that'd it would have raised its ugly head long before me e.g. DRC etc. Although its not ideal, I can live with it, knowing that others experience it too, without any apparent impending doom!

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
I get it. Its not so much a vibration but a feedback from the throttle when going over bumps. I had a full H&R and Hotchkiss rollbars fitted 3 weeks ago and it still does it. Don't think its anything to worry about--I just put it down to the fact its a 6 year old car and the car was designed well before this!
RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
How are the H&Rs and Hotchkisssessseeess bars working for you rstrysull? Thats exactly what grizz is doing for me in a few weeks.
Worth it so far? What sizes tyres you running? I wanna upgrade to 275 30s but want feedback on any fouling...

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
To be honest I had the suspension done by Grizz about 3 days after I bought the car, so don't really remember what it was like before! The car is completely standard apart from the suspension (53 plate Avant). I find the car superb on flat surfaces ie on the motorway, but it does crash over bumps on side roads quite considerably. I actually quite like this as it gives a better feel of the road, but I had a couple of customers in the car yesterday who thought I had a puncture! In reality there is no real alternative to the coilover route as my car is out of warranty and £1400 for the coilovers against what Audi wanted to replace the DRC was a no brainer!
In general I am very pleased with the conversion and was totally happy with the service provided by Grizz and Lee at Unit 20. All Ive got to get sorted now is the vibration from the car between 80 to 100. I went up to Alloa yesterday in the car and its doing my head in!

grizz , and the master tec from croydon audi , blame it on a worn bush on the pedals somewhere , it is annoying for sure , as for vibes between 80-100 , try 4 wheel balancing , or drive faster !

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
I have the same through my gas pedal. I have the PSS9`s on my car and to be honest there is nothing about it that worries me as the car has been checked, rechecked then checked again. It hasn`t got any worse in the 4000 odd miles I`ve had it for so I`m not unduly worried!
Hope this helps.

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
If your only get vibes between 80-100 then thats most likely to be the wheels need balancing or you have a buckle.
The normal A6 pedal shake that most owners experience is apparent at any speed on very poor road surfaces, the same as you get with the scuttle shake on most convertibles on poor surfaces (Had a pug 306 cabriolet on 17's once which turned into a jelly mould at any sign of a pot hole).
I used to get the pedal shake all the time with DRC, but now having the H&R's which are considered a firm ride it happens a lot less.
(the 10mm drop of the Plus springs made the whole ride experience wooden even compared to stiff coil-overs),

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
It's fly-by-wire though, isn't it? So where does the vibration come from.
Grizz, how come they're difficult to fit? I thought they were bolt on / bolt off then calibrate. Do you have to remove the dash or something?

RE: Feeling bumps in road in my accelerator pedal??
Is it possible to simply add another return spring to the throttle pedal?
