Tyre pressure sensors - again

mine have developed a fault that I've not read of on here before...

If just one tyre drops by a few psi I get a warning on the dash that suggests that all four tyres are under pressure. I'm no longer told which particular tyre is below par.

Can't be all four sensors failing so must be fault in control unit? Thoughts?

if that's their response, that's what i'll be doing too. I'm quite capable of checking my own pressures every few weeks...

check all and reset. if not could be the control unit which is about £250 to buy and 2 mins to fit as its in the boot

it's quite easy to check and recreate. Reflate the tyres to correct pressure, problem goes away; reflate tyre and reset sensors (problem gone) but then let 3-4 psi out of any one tyre dash tells me I have four under pressure tyres...

Playing Devil's Advocat', if you have a prang due to tyre failure and the system has been disabled by the driver, what would the insurance company make of it?

Mine is behaving even more strange. I have TURNED OFF the system just becasue I got a lot of fake warnings, and suddenly it decided to keep on warning me! And the fun part is that I cannot turn off the system (nor turn it on again to turn it off), since it doesn't react on anything while I'm in the menu!!! This is what I call a smart system :-)

Mine's also faulty. Been into Audi Edinburgh, told fixed, drove out of the dealer's premises and the light came back on.

Going back in on the 31st August...

Mine does something a bit similar, in that it says that both rears are low when in fact only one is.

Was told today by a chap doing my wheel refurb that the batteries only last about 3 years and they are sealed units?? presumably if one sensor starts playing up then its the battery thats duff. Is there no way of working out which one needs replacing? Mind you, if one needs replacing then prob best to replace all 4 at next tyre change as probably the other 3 batteries are dead/almost dead too. Just ordered a set @£75/each.

I'm pretty sure vagcom will tell you which one is playing up. The batteries last 6-7 years. Mine are still going fine (touch wood). As soon as they go, I'll be seeing if I can prise them open to change the battery.

6-7 years! Is that why some peoples are starting to play up then 'cos our RS's are at that 6 year mark.

Yes. I think that's what it is. We're probably at the foothills of the failure curve and it's about to get a lot worse. I almost want mine to fail soon so I can figure out how to fix em :)

yes the guy at the refurb place showed me one. i didnt realise they were so small. and they do look like they are completely sealed units. but i would be like you, determined to get one open and have a look inside. trouble then is sealing again - although a smplodge of araldite would probably do the trick :-)
