Like a few people on this forum I spend a good few weeks away from home with work. During this time my RS is sitting on my drive way. I was wondering if there was anyway of disabling the car by changing the coding of a module using Vag-Com? This way if the keys where to be stolen they could still not start the car. Then once I’m back home return the changed code to normal. So I guess the questions are, is it possible and if so what to change? Don’t want anything to get damaged.

Just pull a fuse .. I think no32 is for the injectors ...I'll never start then.

You don't give them enough credit, Grizz. They'll find hidden switches, pulled fuses, disconnected wires... I know this from experience

If they are that determined they'll get it anyway. All you can do is reduce the odds - and pulling a fuse is a pretty good way

Why don't you take the keys with you?

A friend of mine always uses one when he goes away and leaves his car parked for a while, albeit as has been mentioned, if a thief really wants a car they will steal it no matter what you try.

I liked the guy who was fed up with people trying to steal his Capri, so he connected it to the local street lamp main electrics... scum of the earth thief had a bit of a shock at his next attempt... unfortunately the owner got fined, where's the justice in that!

If they don't have the keys, they'd seriously struggle to start it overcoming the immobilizer trickery; which makes the fuse aspect academic IMO. If they really wanted it, they'd either go for stealing the keys, or to lift it onto a trailer.

If you're leaving it for a while, why not try an aspect of stealth, either by de-badging or an old scabby car cover? (so that it looks like there's a cheap car underneath, but use a decent liner underneath so that it don't scratch your paint to death). I used to simply hide my car behind a hedge, which worked for nearly three years of ownership without issue.

This is the sort of idea I had but really don't want to go pulling the ecu out or taking the steering wheel off every month. Hence the idea of changing a code in say the ecu or ABS or Auto trans modules.

you've got to take the engine out for almost anything else anyway, so why not lol.

REVO do a remap of the engine ECU that includes a security option I bekieve.

Believe the REVo remap is OK but they don't offer the gearbox.

You must be able to recode the Engine or gearbox ECU in order to make it misfire and fart like a diesel.
