Spare wheel for MOT????

Post by Duffs » Wed Apr 15, 2009 9:24 pm

Does anyone know if you have to have a spare wheel for the 6 to pass an MOT? Obviously with the question mine doesn't have one, although nor did my previous M3 but it did have the spray puncture repair goo, all i have in the 6 is a mini cigarette lighter compressor.

Cheers Guys

you should have a 'can of goo' aswell, and it has to be in date for MOT.

No you don't need one. But if you do have a spare wheel it must be road legal otherwise it will fail.

My own understanding is that if the equipment is present then it must be complete and legal i.e. tread depth OK.

However I understood that a spare wheel and tyre are not required to be present for the MOT test, ergo I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that you would not have to have the puncture kit either.

That being said every time my wife's car gets a puncture the glue and pump is hopeless anyway.

There is no requirement for a spare wheel to be present for the MOT.

I dont think the goo has to be present either, although My Mot testing days were up Three Years ago so I could be wrong.........
BTW if You need to get hold of a new can of goo try ebay (make sure its in date !) I got my last one there for £1.99 plus £2.00 P&P.....

Much better than the £50.00 the tosspots at Audi wanted.

Tyre repair Goo

Post by langstone » Thu Apr 16, 2009 4:14 pm

I would assume you could by similar goo in Halfords for all the good it does.

Or I s'pose you could try the stuff they flog on ideal world that you put in the tyre before you get a puncture.

Regards

Mark
