Warranty Direct

Post by MalcolmSu » Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:59 pm

can anyone who has had Warranty Direct inspect their RS6 before agreeing to cover it tell me what was involved please? Who did it? How did they do it? What sort of depth did they go to, etc?

I was sure I had read a post about this earlier but a quick search failed to find it... Thanks.

From what i've been told they send one one to give it a quick once over , Not a real in depth inspection.

They sent a vehicle examiner from a local company.

He took the REG number, chassis code, looked around the exterior, took down the mileage, and wanted to be taken a drive in my car. He did not want to drive it, just to be driven in it.

All in all less stressful than I had envisaged.

I have taken on Warranty Direct for a while now. They send someone out to look take notes and sit in car while you take it 300-400 yards and decides all is OK. He then reports back and you find out soon after if they take you on( i had to call then a week later to find out) so you might have to do the same.
Their sales line to me was " we are not the cheapest but we offer the best cover"
As like many companies they will say no first before looking at a claim. They did not cover my burst pipe on the DRC ( no pipes covered) even though it is part of the suspension. Except for paying double at Audi you will never get full cover it seems.
Let me know how you get on , and if you want to have a meet

Calum

The guy that came to look at mine had an AA inspections fleece on, though that was not the company he represented. He did what I would have expected an AA vehicle inspection or similar to do - body work check, warm up engine, have a poke underneath etc. I think he was only interested in MOT certificate, he didn't really look at the other paper work. He drove it about 1-2 miles, with me in passenger seat, chattering nervously. It was pretty snowy, and he drove *very* carefully. He told me he used to have an early (2.7?) S4 so maybe I had his sympathy :-)

Had mine done 3rd march. Full service history check, engine check (cold and warm), bodywork check, mot check, electrics check, mods / upgrades verification by WD and general good going over. Then he took it for a test drive with me in the passenger seat. He was very sensible and systematic, and not once did he abuse his position in the driving seat. My overall impression of the inspection was a good one.

I have just been told that Warranty Direct wont cover any more RS6's because of DRC costs.

Not at the moment they won't, but they assure me that they are reviewing the situation and will probably return cover in the future. They are still insuring RS6's, just not covering the suspension so give em a call again and see what they can do. When the DRC cover returns ask them to let you know.

Told me they had suspended cover on RS6s despite me advising I did not want DRC coverage. The agent even confirmed with a supervisor??

Thats a bit crap then. Keep trying mate, at the end of the day you are asking to give them a considerable sum of money. Makes sense to cover you.
